NEBH has 20 OR rooms, 16 on the main campus supporting over 9,000 scheduled cases and 4 OR rooms at our ambulatory site supporting a total of over 11,000 cases. We received our second consecutive ANCC MAGNET designation with 16 exemplars and offer the AACN accredited Nurse Residency Program for newly licensed nurse in the Operating Room. We have 3 programs which are certified through Joint Commission (TJC): Advanced Total KneeHip Replacement Program, Advanced Spine Program and Shoulder Replacement Program.CLINICAL NURSE EDUCATOR (CNE) supporting the Main Operating Room and our Surgicare Center -1 Brookline location provides educational leadership for professional nursing practice in alignment with the mission, vision, values and goals of the Division of NursingNew England Baptist Hospital and Magnet designation. Exemplifies and promotes excellence in education, practice, and research through leadership and mentorship of nursing staff and through collaborative multidisciplinary relationships within the medical center, as well as throughout local, regional and national arenas.Uses adult learning principles and instructional strategies to assess, design, implement and evaluate continuing nursing education programs that enhance and promote clinical competency and standards of care. Promotes, disseminates and integrates evidence-based practice, performance improvement, and nursing research into clinical practice. Supports and facilitates certification of clinical nurses. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and New England Baptist Hospital philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Responsible for assessing the educational needs and of planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs for Department of Nursing. The clinical educator also acts as a consultant in the areas of clinical decision-making, quality improvement and professional development. These activities are implemented within the framework of the department of patient care services philosophy, goals and objectives.Supports staff professional development with activities that include planned and real time educational offeringssupport to advance clinical practice, certification, life supportemergency preparedness, TJC requirements, product rollouts, mentoring, etc.Responds to changes in nursing practice and develops programs to support those corporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs.Design, plan, prepare and present materials for use in educational programs for nursing staff inclusive of competency based learning modules.Accessible to clinicians, and puts education plans in place for staff, monitors completion of staff competencies and education programs.Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development.Supports integration of evidence based, best practices, and research into practice, contributes to nursing research and incorporates research findings into program planning.Work collaboratively with education team, managers, interprofessional team to support initiatives, central and unit orientation activities and is flexible in meeting needs of department.Engages and leads in council, committee and task force work that enhances patient care, outcomes, and satisfaction. Chairs, Co-Chairs Committees. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in the development and implementation of patient care policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and standards of care.Leads the onboarding, orientation, and nurse residency programs. Responsible for the successful transition of the new hire into the practice environment.Makes decisions based on specific instructions, standard practices, andor established procedures. Any deviations from these require reviewapproval from a higher level of authority.Sets goals and priorities for functional area. May make recommendations for department policies, practices and programs. Manager or Director provides broad guidance and overall direction.Collaborates with contracted schools of nursing to clarify clinical objectives and promote appropriate undergraduate and graduate learning experiences.Minimum QualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.Bachelor's degree requiredMaster's degree in nursing education highly preferredExperience5-7 years direct clinical Operating Room experience in Orthopedic specialtiesMinimum 2 years CNE experience in a acute teaching hospitalClinical education experience is required.Licenses and CertificationsState of MA licensure as a Registered Nurse required.CNOR required. Active member of AORNKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesRole model excellence in professional nursing.Excellent communication and critical thinking skills with a solid clinical background as it pertains to the specialty area.Ability to assess needs of learners, design curricula, develop education programs, teach and guide learners, and evaluate learning to implement evidence-based practice and research, using adult learning petency in computer technology such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other technology for teaching purposes.
