Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARYWe are looking for a talented Fermentation Technician to support our fermentation processes and contribute to the success of our projects. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the execution of fermentation experiments, monitoring and maintaining fermentation equipment, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Fermentation Technician Contractor will play a vital role in optimizing fermentation processes and contributing to the development of innovative products. POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESParticipate in the preparation and execution of fermentations up to 300LParticipate in activities directly related to different aspects of process development and industrialization of bioprocessesYou will contribute to the development of critical process development for the manufacturing of biologicsSupporting the research scientists, routine analysis, reporting and communicating resultsConduct pilot scale fermentation trials, routine experiments, organizing and communicating results; may provide routine analysis as neededMake solutions, media, and platesPrepare and stage materials to support experimentsClean and sterilize labwareAssemble and disassemble glass fermentation vesselsPlace orders and monitor inventoryCoordinate workload with the Fermentation Engineering team and other Lab AssistantsHelp maintain an orderly labREQUIREMENTSPREFERENCES Education Requirement(s):Bachelor's degree in microbiology, chemical engineering, bioprocessing or related scientific field 5 plus years experienceSkill & Competency Requirements: ( non-negotiable )Experience making solutions, making media and plates, cleaning labware, operating autoclaves and industrial dishwashers, placing orders as neededAble to prioritize and execute simultaneous tasksComfortable working within a small, collaborative teamExperience with following lab safety protocols and proceduresPreferences: (nice-to-haves)Experience with fermentation equipmentExperience with sterile technique and microbiologyExperience working with yeast and bacterial organisms is a plusFamiliarity with spreadsheet software and dealing with large data sets
