The Kings County District Attorney's Office (KCDA) is located in downtown Brooklyn and is one of the largest prosecutors' offices in the country. We are committed to developing and implementing innovative prosecutorial strategies to fulfill our commitment to keep Brooklyn safe and ensure fairness and justice for all. KCDA is seeking candidates to fill newly created positions for Litigation Compliance Counsels within the Homicide Bureau and the Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau.  Litigation Compliance Counsels will serve as Assistant District Attorneys and will work alongside other ADAs, investigators, and other members of our professional staff on some of our most serious cases to ensure that all criminal discovery materials are collected, protected, and produced in accordance with the law. Successful hires may be eligible to transition to litigation positions throughout the Office after serving for two years in the Litigation Compliance Counsel role. Responsibilities:Assist in all aspects of a complex discovery practice, including the collection, review, organization, redaction, and production of discovery materials.Prepare and argue protective order applications. Help innovate and streamline discovery processes and protocols. Certify discovery compliance in individual cases. Maintain accurate records to prove the defense has received all discovery and that any sensitive information has been redacted in accordance with the law.Assist in responding to motions that challenge discovery compliance.Qualification Requirements:Admitted to practice law in the State of New York.Minimum three (3) years' experience as a practicing attorney or similar experience.Ability to serve a minimum of two (2) years in this role. Preferred Skills:Knowledge of the rapidly evolving body of case law concerning CPL Article 245.Prior experience with eDiscovery and similar platforms.Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others within, as well as outside of our agency.
