Planer Mill Superintendent - Immediate Start AvailableSoutheastern Timber Products Ackerman, MSWe're looking for a Planer Mill Superintendent to join our lumber mill located in Ackerman, Mississippi. Southeastern Timber Products (STP) produces forest products for customers nationally so they can build their homes and their communities.Southeastern Timber Products started in 1972 and had been in business for over 50 years. The Planer Superintendent will provide leadership, training, and development to supervisors & hourly personnel by managing the processes, resources, and work force to meetexceed established budgets and performance objectives. Job Qualifications:Three to five years related supervisory experience, preferably in a forest industry manufacturing environment.Post-secondary education in wood processing, business, engineering or related field would be an asset.Self-motivated individual with well-developed organizational, time management and analytical skills.Technical knowledge of planer equipment, lumber grading and technical knowledge of a high speed planer operations and optimization is a definite asset.Demonstrated ability to work and contribute in a team environment.Excellent computer application skills.Your workday will look something like this:Maintain the highest standards for safety performance, leading with a personal example and a well-communicated vision.Establish and maintain quality and production standards for the planer mill and kilnsEmbrace the principles of employee involvement and work systems by motivating both direct and non-direct reports, seeking and listening to their input, facilitating communications across the organization and leading by exampleEnsure established departmental budgets and performance objectives are metexceeded by communicating those goals, as well as progress against those goals, on a regular basis; providing necessary training; directing resources; organizing the process (i.e. scheduling); and facilitating problem solvingMaintain product specifications, stressing the importance of manufacturing quality products, conducting routine quality checks, and facilitating continuous improvement.You will be responsible for achieving targets in productivity, quality, cost control and employee engagement with an uncompromising focus on safety standards.
