About the jobKnightwerx is looking for a talented Research and Development Technician to join our growing R&D team. As an experienced fabricator with a background in mechanical prototyping and testing, the R&D technician will work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop small unmanned electric aircraft from the ground up. We operate in a fast-paced development environment that balances innovation and ingenuity with practicality and reliability. You will be involved in every aspect of the hardware fabrication process from prototyping to flight testing and manufacturing.RequirementsMust have US citizenshipOn-site, collaborative work environmentWork Experience·       Demonstrated experience with prototyping techniques including machining, 3d printing, and composite fabrication·       Demonstrated experience with electrical component fabrication and testing including soldering·       Hands-on experience with small unmanned systems or model aircraft is highly desiredAttributes·       Innovative, hands-on, and practical·       Organized and neat·       Goal driven, learns from mistakes·       Communicates well with others across technical disciplinesPrimary Duties and Tasks·       Take ownership of the R&D shop facilities at Knightwerx including operation and maintenance of machinery, tools, electrical equipment, and prototyping lab ·       Work with engineering team to fabricate prototypes and test setups·       Maintain fleet of Knightwerx micro unmanned aircraft and assist with flight testing when necessary·       Assist engineering team with design for manufacturingSkills and Expertise·       Ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace and keep shop equipment in good condition·       Demonstrated competence with standard metal fabrication techniques including 3-axis CNC, manual lathes and mills, and hand tools·       Demonstrated competence with prototype fabrication methods including 3D printing and basic hand soldering·       Experience with composite fabrication (fiberglass, Kevlar, andor carbon fiber) desired·       Ability to work on micro machined assemblies under a microscope when required·       Demonstrated ability to fabricate and assemble complex prototypes with minimal instructionAbout KnightwerxKnightwerx is a start-up company that was born to be game-changing.
