Chief Development Officer SUMMARY OF POSITION: Jewish Community Services of South Florida, Inc. (JCS) Chief Development Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategy and implementation of all outreach and resource development activities for the organization. This position builds philanthropic support for the agency and engagement of key stakeholders by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects, donors and grant funders to meet the financial goals of JCS. The position supervises an Associate Director of Development and a highly qualified team of results-oriented staff focused on fundraising, building capacity and engagement with affinity group activities to increase revenue generation and agency visibility. The position is also responsible for leadership and management oversight of all private, corporate, and governmental grant activities to increase revenue for the agency. The Chief Development Officer reports to the agency President and CEO and is considered to be a strategic business partner and member of the Executive team to ensure success in major gift fundraising, board fundraising development, and liaising with government officials. The candidate will be a self-motivated, hard-working, high-energy person with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate others. This position is responsible for extraordinary written communications and oral presentation skills. The ability to communicate with small and large groups as well as with internal and external stakeholders are of critical importance to success. The agency seeks an experienced development leader who is well organized, detail-oriented, with a professional and personable communication style that is able to handle multiple priorities. The Department functions as a team and this person is expected to be a good team player.                                                                 This position may include working evenings, weekends or early mornings. The position is a key ambassador for the agency and represents Jewish Community Services of South Florida in the community, state and national fora. Essential DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include the following, and other duties may be assigned:Work closely with the President and CEO, development and engagement colleagues and program directors to define and enhance strategy across the agency in regard to definition and prioritization of funding needs, as well as developing funding proposals that align with JCS' top priorities and fit donor interestsDraft proposals, solicit donors, and oversee all coordination of fundraising campaignsDevelop and implement endowment, annual fund and campaign strategiesReview and analyze solicitation data to cultivate new donors and to increase current support from all donorsProvide strategy and oversight of major endowment campaignsDocument contacts and strategies through Raiser's Edge NXT (the JCS donor and prospect database)Adhere to the policies and procedures for accepting, recording, and acknowledging gifts SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides leadership and management of the Resource Development and Engagement team.MINIMUM Qualifications:Bachelor's degreeMust have at least five (5) years of demonstrated success in a fund-development role; direct experience raising funds or managing fundraising or gifts in social service, government, faith-based or healthcare agency. Comparable experience in other professional milieus will be consideredKnowledge of fundraisingdonor databasesExperience with annual giving, planned giving, and securing gifts from corporations and foundationsAbility to build and maintain an active portfolio comprised of qualified prospects and donorsMust be mission driven, motivated, and highly organized, as well as self-directed and focused on meetingexceeding metric-driven visit, proposal, and financial goalsMust have superb relationship management skills, demonstrating emotional acuity and the temperament to listen to, understand, meaningfully engage donors, volunteers, and board members from diverse backgrounds and with diverse perspectivesMust have the personal presence and poise required to instill confidence and trust among board members, volunteers, and donorsExcellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to craft thorough personal letters, compelling proposals and other communicationsAbility to multi-task and work on multiple projects at a given time; must be able to prioritize with attention to details and accuracyMust have the desire to work as a member of a collegial, goal-oriented team in a results-oriented organization with high standards.Proficiency with Microsoft applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TeamsMonthly local and regional travel is required, as is occasional work on evenings and weekends ABOUT: Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) is the foremost non-profit, human services agency whose mission is to improve the quality of life and self-sufficiency of the Jewish and broader communities throughout South Florida in accordance with Jewish values.
