AY Manufacturing, Ltd., a Tier 1 world class assembler of Sunroofs for the automotive industry located in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Assistant Manager. This is a hands-on role that interacts with all levels within the organization and drives all EHS functions. Position SummaryThis position provides expertise and technical support to all levels of the organization in the areas of safety, health, environmental and sustainability. This includes compliance with air permits, wastewater permits, hazardous waste and other waste activities. This position is also required to complete compliance reporting and other compliance documents required by Federal, State and Local entities, as well as our customer and parent company. This role is part of the HR department and supports Executive Management, Production, Engineering and manufacturing process activities through risk assessments, regulatory knowledgeinterpretation and development of programs needed to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:Lead hazardous waste management and disposal activities.Permitting and permit management (air & water).Preparation and submission of quarterly, semi-annual, and annual compliance reports for Federal, State and Local jury, illness, and near miss investigations and reductionprevention activities.Workers' compensation claims management (in coordination with the company contracted TPA, the Ohio BWC and our legal counsel).Develop and conduct health, safety, and environmental related training.Develop and implement a facility-wide ergonomics program.Oversee and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies (includes Hazard Communication, Lock-OutTag-Out, Machine Guarding, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Electrical Safety, Arc Flash, Robot Safety, Cranes, etc.).Ensure compliance with Environmental Management Systems requirements (ISO 14001) Lead and implement Carbon Neutrality projects, data collection activities and reporting of Sustainability efforts.Perform Risk Assessments with all departments to determine the potential hazards, environmental impacts, regulatory requirements and conformance with recognized industry standards (ANSI, NFPA, ACGIH, RIA, etc.) of all new and changing processes and projects (capital projects and others).Coordinate SDS Program for materials used, received andor processed at the facility.Develop, implement and test emergency action plans and procedures, including fire evacuation, severe weather, chemical spills, etc.Participate in management led health, safety and environmental audits.Management of a certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management Program. Knowledge, Skills and Educational Requirements BSBA in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related Engineering Science, and 4+ years of an equal amount of experience in hands-on safety and environmental leadership and management within a manufacturing plant preferred.Previous experience in certification and maintenance of an ISO 14001 compliant EMS is also requiredWorking knowledge and understanding of OSHA, Ohio BWC, EPA, Ohio EPA and DOT regulations required. Ability to developimplement proactive safety and environmental policies, procedures, and practices, is required.Knowledge of the applicable State and Local laws is required.Familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA, ANSI, and RIA required.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.Demonstrated ability to manage complex EH&S related projects and direction of consultantscontractors.Ability to work with minimal supervision and complete goals within stringent timeframes.Strong organizational and time management skills.Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and VisioYou must be flexible and able to be onsite on any shift as conditions require, with little or no notice.This is a mid-level salary position. Entry level candidates will not be considered.
