Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Sales Representative - MajorsNationalDepartment: Advertising Job Status: Full TimeFLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Sales Manager Travel Time: Varies Work Schedule: M-F POSITION SUMMARYDevelop, service and maintain advertising accounts for Post-Gazette and through the sale of advertising products including but not limited to ROP, special sections, special products, niche publications and . Responsible for the generation and growth of new and incremental multimedia advertising and revenue for the Post-Gazette, , PGH Digital, and Made in PGH. Responsible for making outbound calls to qualified sales leads with the goal of acquiring new clients who are not currently advertising.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following (though other duties may be assigned as applicable):Develops and maintains account records and majorsnational sales call plans.Maintains relationships and favorable contacts with current and potential advertising accounts.Targets potential advertising and develops relationships in order to acquire new accounts.Ability to work in a high-volume sales environment.Familiar with a variety of field's concepts, practices and procedures.Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Performs a variety of sales related tasks.A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.Develop advertising programs that address advertisers' needs and grow revenue.Develops and maintains expertise with all advertising products.Demonstrates a successful record identifying and developing new sales and inactive advertisers in assigned geographical area or business categories as assigned by supervisor.Orders advertisements and follows through the entire process to ensure accuracy and compliance with Company's deadlines, credit policies and customer's specifications.Write layout and artwork specifications for advertisements.Sell contracts for advertisingHandle all billing problems relating to accounts for which responsible.Coordinate with support staff on handling of ad copy and orders.Ability to use marketing and research material and effectively deliver successful sales presentations. Develop and maintain a solid knowledge of competing media, marketing and industry practices.Maintain required advertising lineage for district or category as determined by supervisor.Handle additional related assignments as assigned by supervisor.File sales, mileage and other reports as required for Company records.Adhere to credit and office procedures; administer exceptions in accordance with Company policies and procedures.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or communications highly preferred.SKILLS & ABILITIESHighly skilled with Microsoft products, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Must have a valid PA driver's license and must have a car available for work.
