Senior or Staff Botanist - Northern CaliforniaWe have an immediate opportunity for a Senior or Staff Botanist. This ideal candidate shall have excellent plant identification skills and previous field experience working in the Central Valley's vernal pool grassland community.Duties and ResponsibilitiesExperience leading field surveys for rate, threatened, and endangered plantsPrevious experience leading vegetation surveys, invasive plant surveys, and habitat assessments to include monitoring surveys for open space preserves and restoration areasMust be organized with the ability to meet deadlinesAbility to prepare reports summarizing field survey results and prepare studies to support environmental permit applications and CEQANEPA biological sectionsPrevious experience preparing cost estimates for plant survey workMentor, support, and train junior staffEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in botany, ecology, or related field; Master's or PhD a plusMinimum of 3 plus years' experience supporting environmental teamExpert ability identifying plants using taxonomic keys and other related toolsExperience with Central Valley vernal pool plant species and ability to analyze floristicvegetation dataExcellent time management and technical writing skillsExperience with CDFW survey protocolsExperience with GPS unitsArcGIS CollectorTravel long distance and overnight stay will be requiredAbility to conduct strenuous field work in inclement weather and steep terrainExcellent Benefits(Botanist, Ecology, Botany, Vernal Pools, CEQA, NEPA, Field, Surveys, plants)
