Job Description:

BASIC PURPOSE: The Manager of Environmental Operations is the main reference shore side for environmental operations in support of the Director of Environmental Operations and within this responsibility heshe co-ordinates related activities.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Assume personal responsibility for safety and the environment. Be accountable for themselves and the safety of others in their vicinity. Environmental consciousness forms one part of this accountability.Assist with the management of the Fleet Chemical Management Program.Conduct andor assist with internal and external ISM audit programs as needed including timely and effective corrective actions.Provide support to vessels during environmental emergency situations.Monitor Environmental incidents & releases report systems and make sure that responsible parties provide relevant follow up.Assist with the development of Environmental performance indicators program in line with the ISO 14001 Program.Provide ideas towards the creation of objectives and targets and continual improvement initiatives.Assist with the monitoring of targets of the company's ISO 14001 program.Review international and port state Environmental laws and regulations.Maintain and develop company policies and procedures for compliance with applicable Environmental laws and regulations.Manage and distribute rebates for the recycling program on the vessels.Promote environmental awareness among the crew and guests.Coordinate onboard sampling for analytic purposes. This includes working with waste water samples for different sampling frequencies. (Third party samples and a variety of samples depending on the ship, equipment, and area.)Coordinate and administer SOPEP's and Vessel Response Plans.Assist with the coordination of ship's Federal, State & Local ISM-related environmental certificates to ensure current and in compliance.Perform research analysis on new environmental technologies and other products including return on investment studies.Perform other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Marine Environment or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and or experience.EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years' experience in Environmental Management, Policy and international regulations. Shipboard experience considered as a plus.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Ability to read and understand regulatory documents.
