Associate Scientist, Protein Biochemistry A Stealth Mode Third Rock Ventures Start Up is looking for a self-motivated and intellectually curious Associate Scientist to join our growing group. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge and bench experience in protein expression, purification, and characterization, is driven to contribute to a rigorous scientific environment and is a consummate team player. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a diverse drug discovery team, with ample opportunity to progress their career development in drug discovery as we launch and grow as a company.Job Responsibilities:Design and execute a wide range of biochemical and biophysical assays for screening and characterizing protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions.Conduct binding, stability and developability studies on biologics to inform lead candidate selection.Skillfully label and characterize protein reagents using biotinfluorophores.Occasionally purify recombinant proteins from mammalian cell culture. Optimize purification protocols to achieve high purity and yield.Analyze experimental data using software tools such as Graphpad. Interpret results, troubleshoot experimental issues, and propose solutions to overcome challenges.Contribute to the design of experiments and research projects. Plan experimental workflows, prepare reagents, and coordinate resources to ensure timely execution of experiments. Maintain an ELN (electronic lab notebook).Required Qualifications and Experience:BSMS with 2-5 years of academic or industry experience. Prior experience working with antibody therapeutics, bispecifics andor Fc fusions is a plus.Experience assessing developability using methods such as BVP, HIC, colloidal stability (AC-SINS, DLS)Strong working knowledge of protein chemistry, characterization and biophysical methods. Experience with a subset of techniques such as: protein labelingbiotinylation, ELISAMSD, analytical HPLC, light scattering methods (MALSDLS), DSF, SPR (Biacore) or other methods of measuring binding kinetics and affinity, Pymol.Desirable: proficient with mammalian protein expression systems and protein purification techniques such as affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusion chromatography.Ability to work within a dynamic, matrixed environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
