Job Description:

The Plant Manager leads a team of people to excellence by directing and coordinating activities of the production, warehouse and yard. The position leads all production activities to achieve high levels of performance in key performance fundamentals, including Safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, preventative maintenance, regulatory compliance, and engagement of employees.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Operating in an environment of continuous improvement and employee engagementCommitment to be an unrelenting advocate for safe work practices and function as a leader of safety in the organizationSafe behavior is a condition of employment at ESWPlan production operations and establish priorities and sequences for efficient manufacturing of products to specificationPrepare and analyze production data to identify operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues and to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delaysInspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization, minimizing unplanned downtimesImplement an effective preventative maintenance program that reduces downtime and improves equipment life at an acceptable costInterpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations Take measures to improve inventory methods, employee performance, and equipment maintenance and repairManage direct delivery activities (including inter-company transfers) to achieve optimum utilization of resources (labor, trucks, product)Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standardsRecommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of productDevelop and implement cross-training procedures Maintain time and production recordsConfer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departmentsEngage with the BU Process Engineering Team, elevating the performance of the entire enterpriseCOMPETENCIES:Safety and Compliance Accountability Sets Expectations and Goal SettingOwnership of Work for self and others Evaluate and selects talentAligns self and others Ability to build and instill trust with othersManaging conflictEXPECTED RESULTS:Ensures compliance with all Safety initiatives and requirements Meets or exceeds Sales and Margin goalsEnsures compliance with Company NNN's and Standard Work Develops, coaches, and drives employee engagement and development of staffAligns self and others with Company, Region, and Area short- and long-term goalsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree (technical or construction management major)Requires three to five or more years of experience leading the operations in a plant in a building products environment or other discrete manufacturing environment at the supervisory or management levelLean Six Sigma certification or related certification desiredStrong MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Skills and ability to coach and mentor professional development through performance reviews and continuous feedback toward positive results.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Reaches with hands and arms to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift andor move product in excess of 75 pounds.WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently standing, sitting, stooping and reaching. May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Employees are regularly exposed to various outdoor temperatures related to heat and cold.
