High School English Teacher and Reading SpecialistCommitted to fostering academic excellence, critical thinking, and a passion for lifelong learning, KYHS isseeking a passionate and experienced English Teacher who can bring creativity and innovation to the classroomwhile also focusing on addressing the reading needs of our students. The successful candidate will inspire a loveof literature, foster strong language skills, provide specialized support for students with varying reading levels,and will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and success.Candidates should have a degree in English, education, special education, or a related field as well as a readingSpecialist Certification or equivalent experience in reading intervention. In addition, candidates should possesssubstantial experience in designing and delivering English curriculum and reading instruction, comprehensiveknowledge of discipline-specific curriculum and instruction methods, strong organizational and communicationskills, and demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.Duties & Responsibilities● Teach at least 20 periods per week, develop and deliver engaging lessons that are consistent with coursecontent and objectives, and give assessments that challenge students to think critically and creatively.● Foster a love of literature and effective communications skills among students and develop a positiveand inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.● Stay current on educational trends, research, and best practices in English education and utilizeevidence-based practices to improve students' reading skills.● Develop and implement targeted reading interventions to support struggling readers.● Collaborate with other educators, parents, and specialists to identify and address reading difficultiesamong students and implement targeted interventions.● Utilize effective behavior management strategies to promote a respectful and focused learningatmosphere.● Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and interventionskills.[Alternatives to potentially add if focus is more on reading specialist:● Conduct assessments to identify students with reading difficulties.● Analyze assessment data to determine specific areas of need and develop and implement individualizedreading intervention plans as a result of this data.● Monitor and assess the progress of students receiving reading interventions. Adjust intervention plansbased on ongoing assessment data.● Provide small-group or one-on-one instruction to students based on their needs.● Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with classroom instruction.● Communicate regularly with parents to share progress and strategies for continued support● Collaborate with fellow English teachers to align intervention strategies with the broader pensation and benefits are highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
