In this role you will contribute to the company's platform technology of engineered satellite tissues. Specifically, you will be part of the preclinical team evaluating satellite tissue therapeutics in small and large animal models through execution of discovery and IND-enabling studies. This will involve effectively collaborating across our highly multidisciplinary organization. You will assist with the development and execution of our in vivo program to advance our lead research and development programs.This role is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage, well-funded Biotech startup. You will report directly to Manager of In Vivo Operations. This position is full-time with laboratory time being on-site at our facilities located in Watertown, MA. On-site work will also be performed at local contract vivariums and CROs.Responsibilities:Develop and execute rodent surgical and microsurgical models to support preclinical development activities with a high standard for study and surgical quality. Perform rodent in vivo studies at contract vivaria or in collaboration with CRO partners, including surgical administration of test articles, conventional dosing (e.g., IP, IV, etc.), blood sampling and processing, tissue harvest and processing, and live imaging.Execute studies using good documentation practices and strict adherence to all IACUC guidelines and policies.Manage the preparation of surgical materials and study logistics and participate in pre-study laboratory activities as anize and manage handling of all samples including preparing sample manifests, maintaining inventory, and coordinating shipments with CRO.Participate in experimental planning and drafting standard operating procedures, work instructions, test methods, study protocols, and technical reports.Participate and present in regular internal project meetings and data reviews.Maintain a clear, detailed laboratory notebook to document all experiments and findings.Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in a biological or veterinary science discipline.4+ years of hands-on experience with animal studies (including animal husbandry, dose administration, necropsies, blood sampling). Experience with small animal surgeries or surgical model development is required.Ability to develop and learn new in vivo and in vitro techniques, as needed.Willingness to work a flexible schedule (off hours, weekends, and holidays) at multiple study sites when necessary. Ability to travel for training or study execution to local (Metro Boston) or out of state partner organizations.Demonstrated familiarity with regulations and guidelines dealing with the humane use of animals in research.Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, time-management, and organizational skills are required.
