Freelance Technical DesignerON-SITE - Charlotte, NC 28273MUST BE IN CHARLOTTE.The Cato Corporation is seeking a Freelance Technical Designer to join our Fashion Design & Technical Design Department.JOB SUMMARY:To provide support for the Technical Designers and Technical Design Department in the timely development of a product with a good fit, consistent sizing, and quality construction.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Create technical drawings in Illustrator, attend turn in meetings whenever possible and keep supervisor advised of status of sketches in queue.Learn and become efficient in Flex system.Develop proficiency in measuring garments, setting up measurement sets and processing approval samples for team.Shadow Technical Designers when measuring and writing comments.Review technical comments sent to vendors.Become familiar with grading methods and tolerances.Learn and become efficient with using grading charts.Assist with general department jobs such as filing, sample retrieval, etc.Other duties as directed by supervisor.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:One to two years experience preferred. Recent graduateintern will be considered.Degree in Apparel ManufacturingTechnical DesignPattern Making preferred.The Cato Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
