RCMA's famed product line is a favorite among professionals for its adherence to standards, high-quality, and performance.Job DescriptionRCMA Makeup is currently seeking a Director of R & D. We are looking for a smart, ambitious, trustworthy person with strong leadership skills to join our family. This job requires someone who can wear many hats and juggle multiple tasks at once. Looking for someone who has excellent communication and people skills as you will need to be able to interact with employees at all levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Color Cosmetic R&D, MoCRAFDA regulations, and a proven track record of bringing successful products to market.Responsibilities:Serves as a role model for employee output and conduct. Accountable for the daily workflow of the departmentMonitors and evaluates the activities of the lab staff and provides coaching, guidance, delegation opportunities, and on-the-job training and re-training as necessary to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies and procedures.Creates and validates product specifications. Prepares and documents in writing, specifications for various batches. Research new chemicals and technology. Compiles and reviews technical data.Research, develop, formulate, and refine new product formulas for RCMA brand and our branded clients.Oversees and supervises pilot batches on New Products.Manages Compounding personnel and compounding schedule. Maintains and implements new processes as needed to ensure quality and efficiency.Manages Color matching batches. Troubleshoots, adjusts batches, and validates specifications, as necessary.Manages, Performs, and monitors stability testing on R&D batches when needed.Request new raw material samples. Work with lab team to test and release new raw material samples.Manages all aspects of raw materials including quality control, storage, receiving inspection, Aging, proper document control and handling SOP's.Manage product testing elements including shelf life, consumer testing, analytical testing, etc.Manages key vendor relationships and supply contracts in coordination with Laboratory Services and Supply Chain fluences development of businesstechnical product strategies to ensure that the organization stays current with applicable new technologies, knowledge, and ingredients.Provide current product and regulatory technical expertise and information to manage risk and drive innovation.Ensures alignment with current company policies and goals, including those that they created themselves, as well as those developed by the owners and other executives.Ensures all work environments are adequate and safe. Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations in lab.Ensure compliance, exceptional customer experiences, industry involvement, and quality management.Ensure all formulas comply with domestic and EUUK regulatory requirements.Qualifications and SkillsEducation:Bachelor's degree in mathematics, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, or related field.Preferred: Master's degree in chemistry or related fieldPreferred: Study focus on personal carecosmetic chemistryExperience:Possess at least 10 years of cosmetics manufacturing experience (i.e., cosmetics, skincare, hair care, or personal care).8+ years leading product development of new, innovative formulas and ingredients.8+ years of experience managing people. 8+ years of experience with production and scale up.Superior knowledge of product ingredient deck listing and labeling requirements.Superior Knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMP), OSHA guidelines, employee rights and FDAMoCRA regulations.Extensive knowledge in the aspects of Compounding, Production, Regulatory, and Quality.Extensive Formulation experience in developing Color Cosmetics and developing new product innovation.Experience in writing functional testing SOP's following good documentation practices (GDP) and Good Lab Practices (GLP) SkillsAbilities:Strong and resourceful problem-solving skills.Able to quickly identify issues and develop creative solutions that improve efficiency and productivity. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Strong ability to write and review procedures.Excellent communicator with strong leadership skills.Strong Excel SkillsCompensation$100,000 - $150,000 annual SalaryFull benefits health, dental and vision.Yearly performance bonus.Paid time off.Job Type: Full-timeAbility to commuterelocate:Simi Valley, CA 93065: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person.Physical DemandsCapable of lifting up to 25 lbs.Capable of standing, walking, and sitting for extended periodsOccasionally walking between buildings.RCMA Makeup is an Equal Opportunity employer and will consider you without regard to your race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
