Our clientele includes major manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and smaller food service operations.Role Summary:The EHS Engineer is essential for providing technical safety and health support to both production and office teams. This involves creating and executing strong safety programs, overseeing effective safety training, and monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations to ensure the well-being of plant and office personnel. Location: Los Angeles, CAResponsibilities:Works closely with staff in engineering, human resources, and operations to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.Provides technical safety and health support and information to production and office personnel.Develops, prepares, and updates written safety and health programs and policies.Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.Trains new employees & existing employees in safety procedures.Designs methods for appraising safety conditions in plant and spects working conditions to ensure all activities are compliant with safety guidelines.Develops annual company safety and health goals.Participates in new productprocess reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.Supports engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.Supports plant personnel in the selection & appropriation of appropriate personal protective equipment.Maintains corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals).Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs and incentives.Serves as member and lead of the environmental & occupational health and safety circle.Leads implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports.Reviews SOPs and provides input for safety and health considerations.Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.Provides technical support to office and plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations.Identifies opportunities, creates project proposals, collaborates with subcontractors, and executes projects with the support and cooperation of management.Advises manufacturing plants and office staff of regulatory changes with which the plant(s) must comply.Audits practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and federalstate occupational safety and health regulations.Monitors & reports lost-time injuriesillnesses.Oversees and provides guidance to leadership and operations, ensuring that they effectively execute incidents and investigations while also ensuring the completion of reports.Monitors worker's compensation claims and works with claims adjusters & consultants to close claims out as soon as possible.Reviews plant safety circle meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and follows up as necessary.Conducts weekly reviews of EHS data points with operations, ensuring thorough analysis and assessment of safety and health metrics.Reviews injuryillness and noninjury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.Actively contributes to the development of leadership and safety practices.Actively collaborates during orientation for new hires, providing valuable insights and guidance regarding safety and health practices.Develops and tracks Key Safety Indicators and develops improvement plans against them.Prepares and submits annual reports to keep management and others informed about the status of safety-related activities.Responsible for collaborating with vendors to ensure compliance with safety and health standards and implementing necessary safety measures.May be required to travel 15-20% of the time.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education and ExperienceAny combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Safety Science, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or a related field is required.A minimum of 3 years' previous experience in the health and safety field is required.Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment required.Experience with multi-sitemulti-unit required.Experience working within a manufacturing industry of 100+ employees is required.Certified Safety Professional ("CSP") is preferred.OSHA30-hour certification preferred.Bilingual EnglishSpanish preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without accommodations.Office and plant setting.
