Job Description:

A reputable full-service multifamily developer, property manager and contractor is seeking an attorney to join the legal team and serve as legal counsel for their property management company. This position will play a crucial role in managing legal matters related to the companys property management operations focusing on matters related to fair housing, litigation, evictions and insurance.Responsibilities:Provide guidance and oversight to ensure the companys compliance with all federal, state, and local fair housing laws and regulations.Review forms of tenant applications, forms of lease agreements, and policies to ensure they adhere to fair housing requirements.Oversee and help coordinate outside counsel in connection with eviction proceedings in accordance with applicable laws.Provide legal counsel on tenant-related issues and ensure proper documentation for evictions.Assist in the resolution of insurance claims and other pre-litigation disputes.Work with outside insurance defense counsel to investigate and address claims and disputes covered by insurance.Review and negotiate contracts related to property management, including property management agreements, vendor agreements, lease agreements, service contracts, NDAs, and utility agreements.Qualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolStrong understanding of fair housing laws, litigation, dispute resolution, insurance regulations, and eviction procedures.Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in property management, real estate, or related fields
