The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to ensure our products meet all applicable safety standards and regulations.Job Description:We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Lead Compliance Counsel. This position will provide legal support and guidance on regulatory compliance, product safety, and product liability matters. The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering, design, after sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure our products meet all applicable safety standards and regulations and that the company is making all of the necessary corporate filings. This person will also be expected to partake in industry The ideal candidate will have relevant in-house experience counseling business teams and providing practical and strategic legal advice on a broad range of issues.Responsibilities:Review and analyze product designs, materials, and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations in the United States.Provide legal advice and guidance to the company on product safety, regulatory compliance, and product liability matters.Monitor and stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to product safety and liability.Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to product safety, regulatory compliance, and product liability.Coordinate and manage product recalls, safety investigations, and regulatory inquiries as needed.Develop and implement product safety policies, procedures, and training programs for the company.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to proactively identify and mitigate potential product safety risks and liabilities.Corporate filings related to the company's products.Manage relationships with external legal counsels, industry groups, and regulatory agencies.Qualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree or LLM from an accredited law school.Licensed to practice law in one state in the United StatesHave exceptional oral and written communication skillsMaintain an independent and objective perspective while developing and maintaining a strong partnership with internal organizations and protecting the company's interestsA minimum of 5 years of experience in product safety and liability law, preferably in the electronics or home appliance industry.Strong knowledge of U.S. product regulations, standards, and best practices.Excellent legal research, writing, and negotiation skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.Midea America Corp. is an equal opportunity employer.
