The General Manager will oversee all aspects of operations, with a particular emphasis on freight forwarding services. Reporting directly to the President, the General Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining and expanding our market presence while ensuring the highest level of service to our clients.Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Strategic Planning:Provide visionary leadership to the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve company objectives and drive growth in the freight forwarding segment.Oversee the development and execution of marketing and business development initiatives to expand our freight forwarding services and increase revenue. Freight Forwarding Operations Management:Direct and coordinate all aspects of freight forwarding operations, including air and sea freight options, domestic transportation, customs clearance, and compliance services.Ensure compliance with national and international trade regulations, customs clearance procedures, and agreements.Provide expert advice on customs and tariff matters, as well as letter of credit handling, to facilitate smooth import and export processes. Customer Service Excellence:Ensure timely and efficient handling of shipments, maintaining defined transit times and delivering house-to-house services as required.Collaborate with clients to provide customized packaging solutions and project management support to meet their specific logistics needs.Manage transport insurance arrangements to mitigate risk and provide peace of mind to clients. Warehousing and Fulfillment Management:Oversee warehousing and fulfillment services, ensuring efficient inventory management and order processing.Implement best practices for warehouse operations to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and reduce costs in the warehousing and fulfillment segment. Team Leadership and Development:Lead and develop a team of 18 professionals, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback.Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork and individual growth.Ensure effective communication and coordination across departments to achieve organizational goals.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 7 years of experience in senior leadership roles within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.Proven track record of success in driving business growth, managing freight forwarding operations, and delivering exceptional customer service.Expertise in air and sea freight options, customs clearance procedures, and compliance services.Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals.Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in warehouse management systems and logistics software.Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist) are a plus.
