Job Description:

Power Electronics Engineer (Entry Level to Baltimore, MarylandOur client is seeking Electrical Engineers specializing in Power Electronics Hardware andor Control Design. More specifically, Power Electronics Engineers will be involved in:Design and testing of SiC based power electronic converter topologies including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state-transformers, and high-speed motor drives.Design and test DSP based digital control algorithms, FPGA modulators, and PLC based high-level system controllers.Detailed PCB designs including SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and support hardware.Design and test low (1.2 - 1.7 kV) and medium voltage (3.3 - 10 kV) SiC semiconductor modules.Design embedded control algorithms, harmonic compensators, software PLLs, and other embedded algorithms.Develop Controller-Hardware-in-the-Loop test setups, control cards, and control algorithms.Experience with medium voltage power distribution, solid-state-transformers, and printed circuit board design experience highly desirable.Minimum Requirements:United States Citizenship required due to US Government ITAR program restrictions.BS in electrical engineering, computer science, or related major required, with minimum 3.3 GPA, MS and PhDs a plusAbility to obtain a DoD security clearance.The following experience is not required, but highly desirable:Designing andor controlling motor drives, ac-dc, and dc-ac convertersHigh speed communications development with high performance FPGAsProgramming various microcontrollers and DSPsHands-on experience with OPAL-RT, Typhoon, or other HIL platformsImmediate RequirementsProjects include:High Power SiC and Silicon power device design into convertersinverters.EMIEMC MIL 461 Compliance and other MIL spec design requirementsMultiple parallelseries connected bi-directional galvanically isolated ACDC, DCDC converters.13.8 kV and 4160V grid interface power convertersMV Isolated DC-DC convertersPower levels 50kW to 500kW convertersinverters that are linked together for higher power levels up in MWs.Navy (surface & sub), Army vehicles and infrastructure, AircraftHybrid work schedule where time can be split between working from home, and in-person working in the Baltimore, MD office.
