(PPG) is an EPC contractor specializing in the installation of utility and industrial process infrastructure including substations, power generation, T&D Infrastructure, industrial process facilities, and renewable fuel projects. PPG utilizes a motivated team of in-house subject matter experts, construction managerssuperintendents, project managers, engineers, and other professionals to manage the execution of the engineering, procurement, and construction of various energy projects.PPG is currently executing an EPC contract for a large 500kV HVDC substation project and will be mobilizing to site in 1Q24. PPG is seeking to bring on an Industrial Building Construction Coordinator for the project in Adelanto, CA as the initial assignment for this position. An integral part of the project is the erection of a Converter Station Building, which includes all civil, steel and masonry construction, as well as MEP support systems such as fire protection, plumbing, domestic water, sanitary, HVAC, electrical, lighting and other systems. This position will be located at the site for the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed by 2Q28.PRIMARY FUNCTIONThe Building Construction Coordinator provides on-site oversight, coordination, management, and technical expertise for all aspects of the facility building (which will house utility electrical equipment and support systems, electrical switchgear and maintenance and office spaces) and interfaces daily with the overall Site Construction Manager and other site discipline supervisorscoordinators and the site safety manager to ensure the building construction is executed in a safe manner in accordance with the project specifications, schedule and within budget. The buildings for this project are being designed by PPG's engineer and will be constructed by a subcontracted general contractor.TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES• Responsible for managing the industrial building subcontractor from inception through completion.• Coordinates work by the building contractor with work being performed by others on the same jobsite.• Monitors work by and assesses progress of all discipline subcontractors, including civil, structural mechanical, plumbing and electrical.• Works with discipline supervisors (Coordinators) and the Site Construction Manager to ensure subcontractors are working efficiently to meet contracting requirements, budgets, forecasts, schedules and quality and environmental requirements.• Manages project costs to ensure budgets are maintained. Documents and manages changes in the work to ensure the interests of all stakeholders in the project are reasonably met.• Manages schedule to achieve project milestones and makes adjustments based on project changes.• Provides periodic progress updates and reporting to the Site Construction Manager and Project Manager.• Provides daily direction to all subcontractors.• Coordinates with the Site Safety Manager to integrate safety into project plans, reinforces safety policies, supports safety training and corrects unsafe conditions as related to the building construction.• Supervises total building construction effort to ensure the productivity of subcontractors and contractual performance goals are being met.• Reviews subcontractor work packages, project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.• Assists subcontractors with project scope development, questions and problem resolution.• Coordinates efforts across the entire project between Owner, project management, engineers, subcontractors, QAQC and Safety.• Systematically and regularly appraises and evaluates progress against goals, timelines, and objectives.• Conducts daily site coordination meetings with subcontractors.• Ensures project environmental, regulatory and safety requirements are adhered to during building construction activities.• Coordinates with start-up team during the start-up, commissioning and testing of the facility.• Proactively identifies issues that could lead to problems and facilitates solutions.• Manages the project closeout process to ensure timely completion.Position Reports to: Site Construction ManagerSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:• At least 5 years of experience in managing building trades for the construction of large commercial and industrial buildings with leadership responsibilities in construction and possessing knowledge of building engineeringdesign, preferably in an EPC environment.• 10 to 15 years of related industrial building trades construction experience with a track record of achievement on large complex projects.• Background in projects involving high voltage electrical facilities and associated subsystems is preferred, but not required.• Strong knowledge of all aspects of building construction (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing), craft agreements, jurisdiction, engineering, and safety.• Experience with project controls, scheduling, and reporting.• A high degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions.• Strong leadership, team building, and management skills.• General understanding of Building Codes, Mechanical Codes, Electrical Codes and Plumbing Codes as they relate to construction of a Building.• General understanding of Building Permits is a plus.• Demonstrated strong leadership ability.• Strong organizational and time management abilities.• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; fluent in English language.• Legally able to work within the United States for any length of time.BENEFITS• PPG offers fulltime staff employees a comprehensive benefits package that's among the best in our industry, including top-tier medical, dental and vision plans covering eligible employees and dependents, voluntary wellness and employee assistance programs, life insurance, disability, retirement plans with matching, and generous paid time off.Salary Range:$150,000 - $160,000
