Job Description:

Job Summary:Responsible for the completion of each weld to the specified standards using appropriate equipment and materials, while following the employer's recommended procedures. It's also important to observe applicable safety precautions, to minimize the risk of injury to the welder or other workers nearby.Primary Job Function:Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assemblytacking and or welding using prescribed fixtures and proper work proceduresOperate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, shielded metal arc, and submerged arc welding, within the parameters outlined in work proceduresRecognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.Determine required equipment and welding methods via established work procedures and apply proper welding techniques.Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.Position and secure work-pieces, using hoists, cranesChip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.ExperienceEducation:A minimum of 5 years welding experienceCandidate should have a basic welding aptitude, 2 year technical degree or related work experience preferredTesting Requirements:Pipe Fabrication ShopPickett Systems single hand pipe welder requirements are as follows:Welder shall be tested on 2" monster coupon in 6G positionStructural Fabrication ShopPickett Systems single hand welder requirements are as follows:Welder shall be tested meeting all code requirements for AWS D1.1Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.Must be able to push and pull a minimum of 100lbs.Must be able to work proficiently with hands and wrists and be able to grasp objectsMust be able to stand and walk for extended periods of timeMust be able to bend and stoop frequently and crawl and work laying down in awkward positions frequentlyMust be able to operate machinery and be able to operate foot controls on equipmentMust be able to work outside 100% of the time in extreme temperatures and among flammablesWill be exposed to hot metals, welding fumes, extreme temperatures while weldingOther Criteria:Complies with Strike's policies and proceduresComplies with Strike's Drug & Alcohol Policy maintaining favorable drug testing results throughout employmentPerforms job safely with respect to others, property and individual safetyWorks effectively with others to encourage teamwork and productivityAuthorized to work in the United StatesPickett isan Equal Opportunity Employer
