SMMA has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level Landscape Architect to join our firm in our Cambridge office. SMMA is an award-winning integrated design practice that unites landscape architects with architects, interior designers, civil, structural and building systems engineers, design technologists, and researchers. Our design professionals are guided by a shared pursuit of design excellence, sustainability, and social responsibility.The Position:The Site Design team is seeking a talented and creative Landscape Architect with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience to join our growing Site Design team. Given SMMA's integrated composition, the role affords a great opportunity to coordinate and work closely with staff across numerous areas of design expertise and provides exposure to a variety of project and client types throughout all phases of projects. The successful candidate will work on various projects throughout our seven core studios: K-12 Education, Higher Education, Government, Life Sciences, Workplace, Technology, and Developer.Key Responsibilities:Capacity to think conceptually and develop designs independentlyProduce compelling graphics, models, and design representationsAssisting in developing site designs and details for a variety of land development and building projects that reinforce the overall design intent while balancing cost, constructability constraints, and client expectationsTaking an active role in all project phases, from schematic design through construction administrationWorking independently, as well as part of project teams, and partnering with interdisciplinary knowledge experts to pursue innovative design opportunities and apply best practicesRequirements:Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution.5-8 years of relevant experienceDemonstrated experience with a variety of digital tools to serve the design process, including Rhino (prerequisite), the Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and the Microsoft Office SuiteInterest and experience in green infrastructure and innovative rainwater management strategiesExcellent verbal communication skills, and capacity to exhibit sound decision-making, time management and organization skills.Digital portfolio must be submitted with the application for consideration.
