Job Description:

An established and recognizable commercial bakery is seeking a Director of Operations to join their team in Ohio! Responsible for strategic oversight, driving innovation, and enhancing policies, this role ensures consistent high-quality production and effective people management in a unionized setting. The ideal candidate possesses strong collaboration, organizational, and leadership skills, with a track record of impactful solutions and exceptional communication in a commercial baking environment. Responsibilities: • Strategize to maximize manufacturing capacity across two bakery locations. • Lead oversight of plant managers for each bakery, as well as engineering, quality, and continuous improvement efforts. • Achieve revenue, volume, and cost targets to meet business objectives. • Develop short and long-term bakery operations objectives and plans. • Implement a comprehensive people strategy including training at all levels. • Analyze company financial reports and manage pricing, P&Ls, KPIs, and budgets. • Implement new processes for operational efficiency. • Manage all aspects of manufacturing: formulation, baking, quality control, engineering, sanitation, compliance, certification, and safety. • Monitor product quality and address inconsistencies across departments. Analyze data to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency. Ensure compliance with labeling regulations. • Collaborate with sales, purchasing, finance, IT, and other departments to address operational needs. Requirements: • 7+ years of experience managing successful commercial bakery operations as a Plant Manager or higher level role (required) • BABS in Business or associated discipline (required) or significant years of experience and related certifications to baking industry (required) • Industry related certifications from AIBSQFHACCP (preferred) • Collaborative mentality to work with cross-functional team members including sales, finance, purchasing, IT, QA, distribution, sanitation, production, and maintenance from both a strategic planning level and tactical implementation.
