TO APPLY FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AT END OF POSTAAPI Equity Alliance (AAPI Equity) is seeking an experienced Communications Coordinator to support a comprehensive strategic communications program to advance the Stop the Hate program. Reporting to the Stop the Hate Project Director, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for all communications activities for the Stop the Hate program, including managing daily communications activities, media relations and roundtables, social media and digital platforms, website updates, and content development.The Communications Coordinator will interface with AAPI Equity's staff, the Stop the Hate team, partner organizations, and vendors.  There may be opportunities to engage on AAPI Equity's wider strategic communications work and on AAPI Equity's initiatives, including Stop AAPI Hate; health-related and domestic violence prevention initiatives; and civic engagement programs such as voter engagement and redistricting.The ideal candidate possesses excellent written, oral, and organizational skills and is experienced in communications strategy, community engagement and project management in a nonprofit environment. Experience and knowledge of issues impacting Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities and current events is essential. This is an opportunity to work with a small, close-knit team in a values and mission-driven environment.RESPONSIBILITIESCommunications StrategyImplement a comprehensive strategic communications plan designed to increase understanding and awareness of the Stop the Hate program and its partner grantees among target audiencesPromote and manage the Stop the Hate brand through multiple channels and platformsUpdate the website, as neededDevelop a storybank including stories from the work of our Stop the Hate partner organizations Build a culture of storytelling and communications across the program and partnersManage media roundtables, including preparatory coordination and follow-upDevelop and implement media and digital media strategy, including media outreach, digital marketing, social media, and websiteDevelop strategies to measure impact, influence, and reach of communications activitiesIdentify, and maintain knowledge of industry trends and issues and best practices in communications for the nonprofit field and policy organizationsManage AAPI Equity's Stop the Hate mailing lists and stakeholder communicationsMedia Relations and Social MediaWork with the Senior Communications Specialist and media relations consultant to develop and implement media relations strategyManage creation of press kits, media pitching, interview preparationDevelop and leverage media relationships, coordinate media requests, identify newopportunities including placement of news stories, op-eds digital, broadcast and radio coverageMaintain editorial calendar and manage socialdigital media strategy across all platforms,including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, blog, newslettersCoordinate media tracking and analysisContent ManagementWriter and editor for external communications (e.g., remarks, messaging, talking points, presentation decks), including drafts for the Stop the Hate team as neededDevelop and manage the production of communication collateral, liaison with website developerCreate and implement email content to diverse audiences including Stop the Hate grantee partners, community leaders, and policymakersSkills and AbilitiesExperience and knowledge of issues impacting Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities and current events is essential.Well-organized, self-directed, highly motivated, ability to work independently and in a team, and handle multiple tasks.
