Senior Optical Manufacturing EngineerOmniGuide Inc. is currently in search of a Senior Optical Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Laser Medical Equipment (Co2 and Thulium Lasers) to join our expanding global Service and Operations team in Billerica, MA.About Us:Located in Billerica, MA, USA, OmniGuide Holdings is a prominent medical device manufacturer specializing in Thulium and Co2 Laser systems. Additionally, we are a global fiber producer of Urology and flexible fiber laser technology, delivering products that advance surgical precision, accessibility, and control for minimally invasive surgery, laparoscopy, and robotic-assisted surgery.Established in 2000 and headquartered in Billerica, MA, OmniGuide, Inc. is at the forefront of designing and producing advanced energy surgical systems applicable to a wide range of surgical procedures.Our product portfolio encompasses surgical laser systems complemented by proprietary guided imaging software, flexible instruments, and other surgical tools.Overview:As a Senior Optical Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the production of optical components and systems.Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and scalability of optical manufacturing processes.You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement manufacturing strategies, optimize production workflows, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Your technical proficiency and leadership skills will contribute to the advancement of our optical manufacturing capabilities, ultimately enabling us to deliver cutting-edge optical solutions to our customers.Key Responsibilities:· Successful candidates will be a key collaborative global leader responsible for multiple international facilities; experienced in manufacturing, operations, and quality management driving growth with a strong business acumen and knowledge of laser devices. This position requires a key contributor that drives operational excellence with a customer-centric approach.· Develop and implement Technical Service strategies aligned with organizational strategic goals and objectives resolving challenges, improving processes and establishing crucial partnerships across all levels of the organization ensuring long term operational growth.· Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to enhance manufacturing processes for optical components and systems, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.· Product Development Support: Collaborate with R&D teams to transition optical designs into manufacturable products, providing input on design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).· Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain robust quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring adherence to industry standards and customer specifications.· Supplier Management: Work closely with suppliers to source materials and components, evaluate vendor capabilities, and drive continuous improvement in supplier performance.· Production Planning: Develop production schedules, capacity plans, and resource allocation strategies to meet customer demand while optimizing inventory levels and lead times.· Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain documentation related to manufacturing processes, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance documentation.· Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues, implement corrective actions, and drive product improvements.· Training and Development: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of learning and development within the manufacturing team.· Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to identify and implement process improvements, leveraging tools such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC) methodologies.· Risk Management: Identify potential risks to manufacturing operations and develop mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of production and minimize disruptions.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in optical manufacturing or related industry, with a focus on process engineering and production optimization.Strong understanding of optical principles, including lens design, coating processes, and optical materials.Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and optical design software (e.g., Zemax).Experience with manufacturing techniques such as precision machining, injection molding, and thin-film deposition.Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements for optical products (e.g., FDA regulations for medical devices).Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives and delivering results in a manufacturing environment.Certification in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies is a plus.Preferred:Related experience with Laser capital equipmentRelated experience in the medical device industry;Familiarity with FDA Medical Device Reporting regulations.
