Job Description:

Process Safety ManagerOur client, an energy firm leading the charge towards a net-zero future, is blazing trails in sustainable LNG and carbon capture technologies. They're embarking on the development of an LNG export facility in South Texas while spearheading a major carbon capture and storage endeavor. Their flagship project aims to deliver LNG with substantially lower carbon emissions to the global market. Currently, they seek a Process Safety Manager (PSM) to join their team, with an anticipated start date in Q2 2024. The PSM will support the long-term operations of their LNG facility. Initially based in Houston for early project phases, the role will later transition to South Texas before commissioning and startup. The position will report to the Sr. Director of Engineering within the Operations Department, under the guidance of the Vice President of Operations. Peer managers will include the Ready for Operations (RFO) Manager, Facilities Engineering Manager, Process Engineering Manager, Brownfield Projects Manager, and Quality Manager. Direct responsibilities of the incumbent include:Ensuring adherence to safety specifications, standards, and procedures.Managing the Process Safety Management (PSM) effort for a multi-train LNG facility.Coordinating the engineering team portion of the facility-wide Safety Case.Providing input and advice on safety and regulatory requirements for the Management of Change (MOC) team.Conducting or coordinating Process Hazards Analysis (PHAs) and Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs).Championing facility-wide Barrier Management and Alarm Management programs.Managing PSM-related software, contracts, and licenses.Progressing PSM requirements and actions through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Establishing and managing relationships with safety and risk assessment consultants.Liaising with EPC partner(s) PSM personnel.Participating in incident investigations and safety-related Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).Coordinating with the Safety Team to ensure safety-related regulatory compliance.Requirements for the role include extensive experience in safety management, substantial familiarity with regulatory agency codes and standards, significant exposure to LNG facility operations, and demonstrated leadership and motivational skills. Personal traits include self-motivation, accuracy, organization, and willingness to accept responsibility. Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities include relevant experience in process safety management and oil and gas industry operations. Preferred qualifications include experience with Safety Cases, Technical Authority roles, and ISO 9001 certification maintenance. A minimum education requirement is a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably with a Professional Engineer certification.
