Our specialty practice and 247 ER hospital offers Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Surgery, and RadioCat I-131 treatment!Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role as a Surgery Registered Veterinary TechnicianVeterinary Technician at OakVet Animal Specialty Hospital located in Oakland, CA. The role involves providing compassionate care to patients and working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure that patients receive appropriate medical treatment. Daily tasks include preparation, assistance, and monitoring of anesthesia, assisting with surgical procedures.QualificationsValid California RVT licenseAt least 1 year of experience in AnesthesiaSafe animal handling and restraintIV catheter placement & venipunctureComplete preoperative anesthesia planningAbility to calculate drug dosesAppropriately intubate and secure airwayMaintenance of an appropriate level of sedation or anesthesia with injectable or inhalant anestheticsDisplay and apply knowledge of a mechanical ventilator functionDisplay the ability to perform or learn arterial catheterizationDisplay ability to perform safe practice of locoregional anesthesia techniquesAbility to calculate and deliver constant rate infusionsAbility to interpret physiological parameters (heart rate, respiratory rate, end-tidalinspired CO2, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, body temperature, basic ECG tracings)Ability to perform basic recovery procedures and recognize when other interventions are required such as administration of sedationanalgesia, administration of supplemental oxygen, and re-intubationAbility to assess pain and perform post-operative pain scoringAbility to perform basic and advanced life support under the supervision of a veterinarian during a CPR eventAbility to anesthetize at least ASA Physical Status class IVPerform procedural checks and routine cleaning of equipment and report malfunctionsWeekend and Holidays RequiredHow to ApplyIf interested in this position and meet the qualifications listed above, please email your resume and cover letter.We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer!
