Job SummaryTo plan, set-up, modify and operate manual machine tools. This requires the production of parts to exacting tolerances and finishes. Includes all conventional machines below, based on need to move people around. machines to be operated: VTL's, Engine Lathes, Radial DrillMill (Bridgeport, Mecof), keyway, balance, TOSResponsibilities and DutiesPlans how operations will be performed on the machine. This includes part holding and alignment, proper tooling. Read and follow complex blueprints and sketches, make machine and tooling adjustments for a wide range of parts, operateboth part and tool probing for accurate measurements, along with a variety ofprecision measuring instruments to verify exact tolerances and finishes.Perform required mathematical computations. Run through involved tooling and processreadouts to verify program readiness. Performs such other related duties as planning of work, makes layouts, performs incidental bench operations, grinds and sets tools for special machining configurations. Assist other machinist in set up andor training as required. Assist Maintenance personnel in maintenance and servicing of the machine.Perform minor maintenance and servicing of machines as cleaning and oiling machines. Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. Operate crane, forkliftand other power equipment.Furnishes own hand tools necessary to perform struct and provide assistance to others as needed.Set up and operate other assigned machine tools.Performs other duties as may be required. Follows appropriate handling and disposal of hazardous waste in compliancewith JHA Regulations. Knowledge of applicable Safety Data Sheets(SDS). For protection of self and others, performs all work in accordance with established safety practices and facility safety rules. Produces quality on time parts and complies with ISO 9000 requirements. All personal tools will follow company RPI calibration requirements.Qualifications and SkillsCompletion of two to four years Trade or Technical School, or equivalent, requiring use of advanced shopmathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbookformulas, and a wide variety of precision measuring instruments. Must be able to read and write English.High School Diploma or Equivalent.3 to 5 years experience preferred.Physical RequirementsProlonged StandingWalking, bending, kneeling, twistingAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Good Hand and Eye CoordinationAbility to work in hotcold environmentMust be authorized to work in the USAVEVRAA Federal ContractorEEOAAP
