Watts Healthcare Corporation is deemed by the Bureau of Primary Health Care of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to be a federal employee for purposes of medical malpractice claims and, as such, qualified for protection under the Federal Tort Claims Act.POSITION SUMMARY:The Behavioral Health Therapist, under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor of Behavioral Health, is responsible for providing care to patients in alignment with the chronic disease management model, and co-occurring services for adults, children, families and groups. The incumbent will independently provide assessments, the coordination, and implementation evaluation of professional social services to patients and their families and provide support to cope with social, emotional, and economic difficulties related to medical problems or which predispose patients to illness. The Behavioral Therapist will also collaborate with managers and care providers from multiple disciplinesdepartments to manage and improve health outcomes and the patient experience of care for Watts Healthcare Corporation's (WHCC) at-risk patient populations, as defined by each patient's risk profile and other social determinants of health, across a range from neonatal care to end of life care. Emphasis is on an interdisciplinary team approach, recovery oriented and strength-based methods in providing comprehensive care to clients and their families.Supervised hours of experience are provided by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to meet the pre-licensing accrual hours necessary for licensure in the Associate's related field under jurisdiction of the Board of Behavioral Sciences.All BH Therapists working at Watts Health Center, Substance Abuse or Recovery Services or any other programsite of Watts Healthcare Corporation will provide a minimum of 10hrs a week of clinical direct care (individual, conjoint andor group) to patients andor residents of SUD or Recovery Services in order to obtain the required Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) of 1 hour of clinical supervision by a California Licensed Clinician. With a billing expectation of a minimum of 20 hours a week based on program contract assigned. BH Therapist Associates must be credentialed by WHCC's credentialing board before they may independently see clients and must abide by all clinical directives and guidelines provided to them by their licensed supervisor. Details of the supervisorsupervisee rights and responsibilities are outlined in the BBS terms and conditions for accrual of supervised hours of experience in a non-profit setting. This classification includes registered and degreed, but not yet licensed ACSW's or AMFT's.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide quality services by assessing patient and family system needs, and subsequently developing and implementing treatment plans in accordance with appropriate clinical protocols and guidance.Screens adults andor children for the appropriateness of treatment; conducts psychosocial assessments and diagnoses mental health and co-occurring disorders and illness.Provides individual, conjoint andor group clinical sessions (brief, solution focused, crisis intervention) to patients, clients and residents to address immediate therapeutic needs and services.Assists in the coordinating of activities for the Social Services Specialist andor provide case management, resources and linkages for services.Maintains communication with other local service agencies for patient referral as needed. Develops network of community resources and maintains liaison with these resources.Assist in the provision of in-services and consultation to the interdisciplinary team of health professionals on the staff.Responsible for working with client(s) on implementation and oversight of the Plan of Care.Keeps accurate, up-to-date records on clients served, including progress notes, transfer and discharge plans, annual reviews, and all client contacts.Participates in utilization review activities.Utilizes a computer and various software programs, including an electronic health record (EHR).Prepares and delivers oral presentations to the public on WHCC Behavioral Health and its pletes tasks and projects that will aide in the benefit of behavioral health and social services to patients, clients and residents.Participate on-duty (8am-5pm) rotation for clinical services at WHCC.On-call service for after-hours crisis needs for specific weeks (subject to available dates).Be available to translate for specific sessions, if qualified.Must have a currentvalid California Driver's License and proof of insurance.May be assigned to work at a satellite clinicsite on a scheduled, temporary basis as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team approach with both paraprofessionals and professionals.Ability to maintain client dignity and confidentiality.Willingness to work non-regular hours may be required.Fully fluent in Spanish-English is strongly preferred.Familiarity with community resources desirable.Good writing and verbal skills are essential.Demonstrate the ability to interpret the social, emotional and behavioral problemselements as they related to patient's medical condition and treatment.Familiar with and able to practice consistent with the treatment of co-occurring disorders and chronic illness.May perform other job-related duties as assigned.EDUCATION andor EXPERIENCE:Completion of a master's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Marriage and Family Counseling, or a related fieldANDCurrently registered with the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). ORWithin 90 days of hire must obtain and maintain a current and valid Associate number from the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences (ACSW or AMFT)Failure to maintain a current and valid registration orfailure to successfully obtain licensure with the Board of Behavioral Sciences within six years of registration, may result in disciplinary action, up to and including separation from employment.Must adhere to Watts Healthcare Corporation's (WHCC) employee healthimmunization requirements or provide a valid exemption request for subsequent approval.COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS:All patients are subjected to COVID screening and are required to wear a mask when not receiving treatment.
