A Long Island-based support services organization is looking to add a new, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to one of their facilities in Suffolk County. In this role, the Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing health services to individuals in an IRA setting.About the Opportunity:Setting: Residential facilityAssignment Length: 3 to 6 months (contract to perm)Schedule: Monday to FridayHours: 7am to 3pm, 8am to 4pm, 9am to 5pm, or 10am to 6pmPatient Population: Adult ID DDCaseload: 5 to 8 people Responsibilities:The Registered Nurse (RN) will:Provide nursing care and treatment for emergency and minor malady reliefAttend pertinent medical and psychiatric appointments to advocate for the individuals and ensure appropriate treatment plansFollow up on all treatment recommendations in a timely mannerEnsure all medical and psychiatric treatment plans are compliant with current Standards of Care and State RegulationsCheck monthly medication order for accuracy and monitor for adequate supply of medication in the residence at all timesVerify each newly prescribed medication and ensure that each is filled in a timely mannerCommunicate with families regarding medical issues, as necessaryProvide nursing coverage to residences during assigned RN's PTO including on call telephone triage and site visitsObtain and maintain medical histories and records to assure continuity of each Individual's medical history in compliance with regulatory and legal requirementsParticipate as a member of the program planning process (attending and participating in ISP meetings)Assist in the interview process of candidates for the medical support counselor positionPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:Graduate of an accredited School of NursingNYS Registered Nurse (RN) licenseSolid assessment, clinical, and documentation skillsPatient orientedGreat interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong attention to detailHighly organizedDesired Skills:Bachelor's Degree in NursingExperience with the Intellectual Developmental Disabled population
