Job Description:

RSI Logistics (recently acquired by Trinity Industries) is hiring a Fleet Maintenance Specialist for our Okemos, MI location!As a Fleet Maintenance Specialist, you will be main contact for assigned clients as it relates to their equipment maintenance needs. The primary objective is to manage the railcar repair and maintenance shopping events quickly, economically, and efficiently to minimize service time and provide value to our client. This role is also responsible to ensure compliance with all AARDOTFRA and other applicable environmental, Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.The Fleet Maintenance Representative will interact directly with the client, railroads, railcar shops, railcar owners, and other RSI personnel. The role operates in a professional office environment and requires mechanical aptitude and decision-making skills.What you'll do:Work in partnership with client to establish annual maintenance requirements (programs)Provide maintenance forecast and budget informationCollaborate with client and car owners to ensure shopping instructions are accurate and completeCreate bills of lading andor diversion request to move the railcar(s) from client facility to home shopsSelect repair shop and mobile repair units based on price, location, type or repair, and availabilityOrganize, update and maintain shop status reports and distribute as requestedEstablish relationships with clients, repair shops and car ownersReview and approve repair shop BRC estimates ensuring the BRC estimates include all maintenance items provided on the initial shopping instructionSeparate repairs that are the car owner's responsibility from client responsibility. Secure client approval prepares client billing and negotiates with shops as needed for erroneous charges to help reduce costsCollect all required shopping documents related to mechanical and regulatory changes in order to update proprietary systems, RSINet and Rail Command accordinglyApprove final BRC estimate and provide outbound disposition for routing the car back to the client's facilityExpedite the established annual maintenance requirements (programs) based on client requirements to ensure deadlines are met. Participate in client-required meetings on this topic as neededMaintain awareness and keep records relative to AAR, DOT, FRA, Field ManualOffice Manual of AAR Interchange Rules and Federal Register publications which are revised and updated frequentlyAssist with OTMA requests required by the Federal Railroad Administration as needed in conjunction with regulatory requirementsMaintain Client Information ManualsWhat you'll need:Associate Degree in Business or equivalent experience2 years experience in related areaRail industry or transportation logistics preferredProficient in technical writing, good communication skills- attention to detail is criticalStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficient with Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word and ExcelStrong mechanical aptitude with decision making skillsEfficient time management and organization skills
