Job DescriptionReporting to the Armed Security Guard Supervisor, the Armed Security Guard is responsible for conduct armed andor unarmed foot andor vehicle patrol (interior andor exterior). Additional duties include: control access and egress; monitor CCTV and alarm systems; compose reports; deter criminal activity and misconduct.NOTE: This role is subject to the incumbent's ability to hold an NRC Q-clearance as well as their ongoing ability to maintain site access.Roles And ResponsibilitiesWatch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.Sound alarms or calls police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles.Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits.Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensures that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client vestigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.Provide assistance to customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.Make emergency notifications as necessary pursuant to site Post Orders.Make productivity and cost reduction recommendations to management.Make recommendations for physical security surveys and post order.Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.Basic Qualifications, Education, And Experience Must be a US citizen.Must possess or be able to obtain a US NRCDOE Q-clearance or equivalent (DOD Top Secret).Must be able to attend and pass the NC Armed Private Protection Services Board (PPSB) course if not already completed.Must be at least 21 years old.Must possess one or more of the following:Service in Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement, security (such as Military Police, Elite Military Forces, combat arms) or any support role in a Combat ZoneGraduate of a Certified Public Safety Academy (military or civilian) or verified work experience in the law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighter field Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies.A minimum of 8 or more years of service in any military branch.Associate's degree (or 60 credits) or higher in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service.Post offer, must be able to pass the following:MMPI - Psychological testing, if required by a related contractSOP (Security Officer Profile), if required by a related contractMust be able to work various shifts and weekends, as dictated by the operational needs of the team.Must be able to work overtime as needed.Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.Energetic and focused personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.Must be highly proficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology.Professional, articulate and able to use good independent judgment and discretion.Must have proven ability to maintain correspondence, discussions and materials in strictest confidence.Current state driver's license, clean driving record (no points in prior 3 years), minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and ability to safely operate a vehicle required.Professional, articulate and able to use good independent judgment and discretion.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including with clients, while functioning as a team player required.Licensing requirements are subject to state andor local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.PhysicalMental Requirements And Working EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk and hear (communicate verbally in person and via regular telephone equipment), and must be able to read computer screens, correspondence and reports in English.The employee must constantly walk, stand, reach with both hands and arms, and must be able to drive a vehicle. The employee may occasionally lift andor move up to 25 pounds. May be required to climb stairs on an intermittent basis at client sites.The job is generally performed in an office setting; however, during site visits the employee may be subject to adverse conditions such as rain, cold or heat for short periods of time.The ambient noise level is usually quiet, consisting of normal conversations, business machines (copiers, printers, etc.) and telephones, but occasionally may be above-normal for portions of the shift.The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.Must be able to focus and multi-task in a busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Includes being able to effectively manage multiple employees with diverse personalities and engage them to perform at optimum levels.Must be able to clearly speak, read and write English.
