Tier One Automotive company in SE Lower Michigan is looking for a Director of CustomsJob RequirementsResponsible for developing, documenting, and executing a comprehensive logistics and Customs strategic plan which will drive optimal customer service and profitabilityContinuous monitoring, reporting and improvement of the supply chainDirects management team to establish priorities for the available workforce and ensure proper execution of daily supply chain related activitiesSupports new business opportunities from the Business Unit by providing expertise on customsEvaluation and reporting of the "COMPANY" Customs, CPS and Component border operations budget and achievement of cost reduction objectivesEnsures all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines including import export compliance and Customs activityEnsures continued support, adherence to and expansion of key government programs (CTPAT, NAFTA, etc.)Identifies, implements, and oversees best in class Logistics Modeling Software technology to support supply chain optimization and efficienciesKPI development and reportingCoordinates Supply Chain Management Activity through collaboration with counterparts in the Supply Chain Organization (Purchasing, Procurement and Distribution)Drives operational excellence and best practices across the network reducing cost to support yearly savings commitmentsSupports Global Logistics activities through Global Team representationAllocates and manages staff resources according to changing needsSupports MP&L Material Project & Logistics strategySupports BCP Business Continuity Planning activities and lead the Logistics contingency operations to reduce risk and impact to the supply chainSupports alignment and use of Premium Freight tool, reporting and improvementsProficient in negotiation, problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesExpertise in communication and teamwork, and team leadershipFinancial acumen, decision making skills, and conflict resolution expertiseMonitors and supervises staff to ensure compliance with all Global importexport regulations, compliance initiatives, operations, post entry activity, duty coding, etc.Seeks efficiencies and cost reduction activities by implementing cross-regional activities and implementing best practices by cross-training team membersDevelops Standard Operating Procedures that will outline the work instructionsdesk procedures specific to the country's regulatory requirementsManages the Company's participation in Supply Chain Security programs, including but not limited to; CTPAT, PIP, and OEA.Strengthens the relationship with the customs authorities in various countries, embracing an open and transparent line of communicationMaintains and oversees the Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) program for two legal entities in the USDevelops an internal audit program for Mexico and Central America, similar to the US Customs approvedPreserves the relationship with CBP's Center of Excellence and Expertise (CEE)Ability to make business decisions that affect day-to-day and Customs operations, and to bring in all stakeholders as part of the decision-making processProvides direction and assistance to associates for resolving customs issues, post entry issues and internal obstaclesContinually monitors and proposes any duty reduction opportunities, including, but not limited to: 9802, duty drawback, NAFTA, GSP, CAFTA, EUR.1, EU-Japan, and other European Union FTAs, etc.Holds quarterly Customs Liaison meetings to establish trade compliance knowledge within the organization, support internal stakeholders in sourcing decisions and Customer relationshipsBenchmarks Corporation against other known importers and exporters to ensure best in class applications are being appliedJob QualificationsDegree RequirementsBS degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or relevant field requiredMS degree preferredSignificant experience may be accepted in lieu of degreeCertification RequirementsLicensed US Customs Broker, Certified Export Specialist (CES), or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) (Preferred)Previous ExperienceMinimum of 10 years of relevant Supply Chain experience with at least 5-years in Logistics Management7+ years Customs Compliance and Regulatory Experience;
