Overview: Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for an Inpatient Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support Virginia Oncology Associates' hematologyoncology consult service at Sentera Virginia Beach General Hospital. ***Please take this quick survey once you've submitted your resume to complete the application process: APP PI Survey Responsibilities: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for Hematologyoncology patients in an inpatient setting with additional outpatient clinic duties based on practice needInitiate and document appropriate interventionsEvaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocolPrescribe drug therapies per protocolphysician consultationAssist in proceduresRound on patientsAssess patient and family needs and provide educationPromoteprovide staff educationServe as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home settingIncorporate evidence-based research into clinical practice Maintenance of active hospital privilegesConduct consultsProvide daily sign off to physician Qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant programPost MSN hematologyoncology nursing or Physician Assistant experience preferredInpatient skill set experience preferred Experience in hematologyoncology preferredExperience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment preferred RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician AssistantCurrent CPR certification required.Must be willing to travel to the various hospitals and practice locationsMay be requested to assist with weekend rounding
