Mechanical Engineer Job description Responsibilities:• Collaborate with customer engineering and internal BYD cross-functional team membersto design, build, and test component or final product.• Investigate and develop mechanical design concepts to achieve product performancerequirements.• Define, build, and characterize physical prototypes on assigned mechanicalpackagescomponents.• Perform tolerance analysis on parts designs to ensure requirements for assembly,functionality, and cosmetics can be met.• Create design documentation including specifications and drawings required formanufacturing assigned partassemblies.• Conduct mechanical performance evaluation on components, subsystems, and fullassemblies as well as perform thorough analysis of results.• Work directly with NPI and manufacturing to optimize part and assembly design formanufacturability, cost, and quality.• Clearly communicate results through informal peer reviews as well as presenting atformal design reviews.• Work closely with manufacturing to define, specify, and validate test equipment processes related to assigned part andor assembly designs.• Support prototype and production part and assembly builds, both remotely and onsite atfactory.• Collaborate with customer and internal team, to develop and validate new manufacturingor assembly procedures to meet product performance requirements.• Troubleshoot mechanical failures and recommend design changes to prevent futureoccurrences.Key Qualifications:• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering fieldrequired.• Knowledge of mechanical design structures for consumer electronics. (Display, Acoustic,Antenna, EE, HWTE, RF)• Supporting new product launches, 3+ years of product design experience is a plus.• Experience in product or process developmentbring up and qualification• Experience with automation, assembly processes, secondary operations such as CNC,polishing, laser etching &welding, PVD, blasting, glue dispensing• Proficient skill with 2D & 3D CAD modelling; Experience with NXUnigraphicsdesirable.• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation, Designs of Experiments(DOE), statistical process control methods and theory (SPC, CPK)• Strong writing and oral communication skills with both English and Chinese languages• International travel, up to 25%
