Job Description:

PurposeThe Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the Product Engineering Team including interns and co-ops to execute and deliver R&D Projects, New Product Development Initiatives, Product Changes, and Product Testing. This includes managing processes and procedures, monitoring process of engineering initiatives while resolving issues efficiently, and reviewing engineering outputs including designs, specifications, and DHF documentation. The Engineering Manager will be instrumental in securing patents and freedom to operate for new initiatives. The Engineering Manager will focus on improving product design, increasing speed to market, and reducing product failure risk.Education andor Experience· Bachelor's Degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with medical device experience· Minimum of 3 years managing engineering team activities.· Experience with ISO 13485Roles and Responsibilities· Negotiate resources and coordinate efforts with product team members and external consultants to deliver projects according to plan· Provide support during the development process of new products, product changes, and product testing· Collaborate with product design, project management, product managers, marketing, and clinical as necessary to develop and meet project plans· Ensure engineering teams are dedicated and focused on current and future projects via effectively communicating project expectations· Determine prototype and development capacities and capabilities· Facilitate and support design reviews with multidisciplinary teams· Oversee product testing, test method writing, data analysis, and conclusions via collaboration with laboratory personnel· Ensure design history documentation is completed accurately and timelyQualifications· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.· Must have good people, analytical, managing and writing skills.· Requires attention to detail and ability to deduce requirements for project success and to communicate them to stakeholders.· Be comfortable with engaging all levels of management.
