Orbia has operations in 41 countries with more than 22,000 employees.Based at St. Gabriel, LA this position as Electrical Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the instrument and electrical system. They will work very closely with both the Production Team and Technical Team to ensure reliability and continuous improvement of the IE system takes place.Principle ResponsibilitiesProvide Instrument & Electrical subject matter expertise (with emphasis on electrical) to the maintenance, operations and technical personnel necessary to maintain a safe operating plant.Ensure that the site meets all company and statutory instrument and electrical engineering requirements. Keep IE Engineering procedures up to date and relevant. Serve as custodian of I&E best practices for the plant.Develop front end scope and manage minor capital and maintenance projects. Ensure that all project designs include instrument systems that make the best use of plant operating experience.Participate in PSM program, including MOC hazard studies, process hazard analyses, pre-startup safety reviews and SIL assessments as needed.Work closely with outside engineering firms or contractors on the design of new projects or to maintain the high voltage and instrument systems in the plant.Ability to develop and implement training for operator and IE Techs to raise their awareness and capabilities in all aspects of IE systems.Special SkillsUnderstand and have working knowledge on the maintenance of high voltage electrical distribution systems (138kv - 480 v).Understand and having working knowledge of industrial instrumentation such as flowmeters, pressuretemperature elements and transmitters, densitygas analyzers and nuclear level detectors.Possess a basic knowledge of control and safety instrumented systems.Having some level of experience in or awareness of Safety Integrity Systems (SIS) and assessment of SIL levels is a plus.Well-developed leadership skills, the ability to lead projects or special assignments and collaborate on multi-disciplinary teams.Ability to analyze process data necessary to understand component and system failure analysis.Education ExperienceMinimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering. PE licensure a plus.At least 5 years' experience as an Electrical Engineer in a petrochemical, industrial I&E environment, or engineering firm.Able to work in a positive, team-oriented environment.The St. Gabriel site offers a positive, safe, rewarding and team-oriented environment.
