Director of Human ResourcesIn-OfficeLocation: Pinellas County FloridaDirect HireCarterwill Search is recruiting for a Director of Human Resources. The HR Director will be responsible for planning, leading, and developing policies and activities of the Human Resource Department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategies.The position also supervises staff responsible for contract compliance monitoring.The position requires full accountability for operating under federal, state and local employment and equal opportunity in employment laws. The position requires timely responsiveness to employee and management needs.Duties and ResponsibilitiesMonitors and ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment and equal opportunity in employment laws and regulationsResearch and review potential changes to benefit packages (i.e., medical insurance) and communicate possibilities to upper managementDevelop and update job descriptions for all positionsRecruit, participate in interviews, and make formal job offers to candidatesMaintain employee handbookUpdate HR forms, including performance evaluationDevelop a training schedule for essential skills, to include diversity and inclusion, ethics and sexual harassment, and safety and health topics.Conduct new hire orientation to cover mandatory new hire paperwork; employee handbook; corporate mission, vision, values, and goals; organizational role responsibilities; compensation and benefits; administrative procedures (payroll, email setups, etc.), and emergency proceduresMonitor for timely completion of performance evaluationsTrack and monitor employee long term leavesDocument and handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with policiesFacilitate professional development, training, and certification activities for staffEnsure required posters, signage, and information is in placeProvide excellent external and internal customer serviceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of:Federal, state, and local employment and equal opportunity in employment lawsInternal systems, including time reportingSkills in:Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and negotiation skillsGood judgment and decision makingEffective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesStrong organizational skills with attention to detailExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsPartnership and team buildingAbility to:Adapt to the needs of the organizationHandle stressful interpersonal situations, calmly and efficientlySit at a desk or conference table for extended periodsFrequently move about the office and access stored files and recordsOrganize for a fast-paced environmentDeal with all staff in an effective, professional, and courteous mannerMaintain effective working relationships with supervisors and colleaguesPhysical RequirementsAbility to physically meet with prospective and active partners in the communityPossess the level of manual dexterity sufficient to operate terminal keyboard, telephones, faxcopy machines and general office suppliesAbility to sit at a desk or conference table for extended periodFrequently move about the office and access stored files and recordsAbility to move, handle, or lift moderately heavy objects such as computer equipmentEducation and Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or closely related fieldA minimum of three years of human resource management experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and trainingSHRM or HRCI Certification preferred
