All Inns of Aurora employees are expected to demonstrate the following characteristics as defined in the Inns of Aurora, LLC handbook:CourageInitiativeDependabilityFlexibilityIntegrityJudgmentRespect for othersPosition purpose:Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Landscape Technician will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the Inns of Aurora propertiesOperate tractors, trucks, mowers, cutters, edger's and other necessary equipment for maintenance of the propertiesAssist the Facilities Manager in scheduling and supervising the care, maintenance and operation of the propertiesOperate and demonstrate the proper use of equipment and power hand toolsMaintain the irrigation, planting, and pruning of trees, shrubs and grassesSupervise and participate in the propagation of grass, trees, shrubs and other plants through planting, fertilizing, etcAssist with the mowing of lawns, mulching, and weedingMaintain and repair sprinklers and watering systemsCheck and perform the efficient operation of power mowing machines, tractors and other automotive equipment used in maintenance and patrolling workAssist in Spring and Fall clean up involving leaf removal, gutter cleaning and other exterior debris removalParticipate in and oversee snow removal operations, snow melt application and other winter weather related activitiesAssist in snow removal operations, snow melt and other applicationsPerform other duties, as assignedMaintain regular attendanceRequirementsQualifications:Working knowledge of the methods, materials, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment used in various grounds maintenance activities including mowing, edging, trimming, and weed and pest controlBasic understanding of plants, trees and ground cover materialsWorking knowledge of health and safety regulations related to power equipment and toxic chemical applicationsAbility to operate assigned equipment including, but not limited to plow truck, snow blower, tractor, lawn mowerWorking knowledge of health and safety regulations related to power equipment and toxic chemical applicationsAbility to communicate effectively with others in a team environmentPrevious customer service experienceAbility to work independently, with little or no supervisionA friendly and professional work ethic and demeanorFlexibility in scheduling, including nights and weekend availabilityPreferences:High school diploma or G.E.D.
