Physician Assistant BilingualThe Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care to a specific out-patient and in-patient population. The Physician Assistant reports directly to supervising physician. This individual needs to be bilingual-English and Spanish speaking. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Attending Physician EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: * Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program. * Current Certification. * Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Florida. * Intermediate knowledge of and experience utilizing a personal computer and word processing software required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Perform initial consultations and provide longitudinal care at follow-up visits to assigned patients in the office. * Obtain detailed medical history and perform comprehensive physical examination. * Develop and implement plan of care with attending supervision. * Complete appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered in the medical record. * Make appropriate referral for consultations. * Provide appropriate patient education to patients and their families. * Respond to telephone inquiries of patients and provide appropriate medical care, referral for consultation or counseling. * Communicate with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment. * Provide follow-up and health maintenance care including the appropriate adjustment of medications in accordance with established protocols or in response to specific instructions from the Attending Physician. * Prescription of medications to accomplish the plan of treatment * On-call responsibilities on rotational basis. * Completing disability, workers compensation and other forms as required. * Review patient reports for unusual findings (i.e. MRI reports, laboratory results, consultations from other physicians, etc.). * Participate in regular staff, clinical and provider meetings. * Any other dutiesprojects as assigned (e.g. educational materials for patients, signing off on clinical supply orders, employee health, etc.). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: * Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress. * Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. * Ability to perform medical examinations using standard medical procedures. * Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories. * Ability to maintain quality, safety, andor infection control standards. * Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions. * Ability to educate patients andor families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment. * Knowledge of primary care principles and practices. * Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. * Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures. * Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records. * Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise. * Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures. * Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. * Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration. * Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners andor the general public. PHYSICALMENTAL DEMANDS: * Work is normally performed in a typical interioroffice work environment with frequent telephone contacts. * Occasional evening work. * Moderate physical activity. * Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds. * Requires standing andor walking for more than four (4) hours per day. ENVIRONMENTALWORKING CONDITIONS: * Busy clinical medical environment (office) * Incumbent is required to help move patients when needed. * There is requirement for prolonged standing and walking. * Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. * Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training.
