Our client, an innovative leader in the packaging industry located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, is looking for an Entry-Level Purchasing Assistant to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis to help continue their pattern of growth. Entry-Level Purchasing Assistant Responsibilities: With direction from the Category Manager, manage product line hierarchy by maintaining competitive product database including product profiles and comparisonsMaintain product specifications for all company branded and manufacturer branded product linesReview contracts, pricing quotations and bid process as requiredSource new items at direction of Category Manager and advise on availability, costing and service program detailsInterface and coordinate with all suppliers in communications, handling issues and planningCoordinate corporate purchasing programs and buying parameters for all participating suppliersOversee supplier management scorecard, highlighting issues for Category ManagerWork closely with Procurement as part of overall supplier management programProvide marketing and sales support by managing literature needs with suppliersMaintain on-line catalog database to support electronic sales materialsAt the direction of the Category Manager, assist with product launches and product penetration programsManage product sample programOversee rebate process by managing database set up, updates, accuracy and trackingMaintain records of all supplier contracts and program agreements Entry-Level Purchasing Assistant Requirements: Work is performed at the Glenview officeExcel (V lookup, organizing a spreadsheet, basic formulas, etc.)Confident in speaking on the phone (not to source or negotiate, but to gatherverify data)Solid written skills to be able to compose simple email requests that would be sent to suppliers If you are interested in this Entry-Level Purchasing Assistant opportunity and qualify per above requirements, please apply today.
