To learn more, visit or follow @newmark.Description: We are looking for a Revenue Corporate Controller to join our Finance Group. The individual will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and will oversee our revenue accounting, broker payroll, accounts receivable and treasury teams. This position will manage domestic and offshore teams, and will collaborate with international accounting teams, as well as functional partners across the organization. The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator who loves challenging opportunities and thrives in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines.Key AccountabilitiesOversee the month-end close process as it relates to accounting for revenue and commissions as well as for related costs, with a high focus on the accuracy of financial information and adherence to US GAAP and close timelinesManage the revenue accounting and broker payroll teams and partner with the related functional partners across the companyManage the close tool, including holding the various accounting teams accountable for their close timelineReview and suggest journal entries as needed, including reviewing account reconciliations, intercompany reconciliation, subledger reconciliations, as well as judgement-based reconciliationsEnsure consistent application of revenue and expense recognition across all entities as per US GAAPOversee internal collection activities and partner with external collection agencies, as neededOversee the cash application team and assist with the resolution of unapplied cashOversee the accounting for funds held in trust escrow bank accounts, including regulatory oversightOversee the treasury function, with a focus on cash management, cash forecasting and debt covenant trackingReview the monthly consolidated income statement and balance sheet analyticsCollaborate with the financial planning and analysis team on the budget, as well as on the month-end close process and related analytics and reportingCollaborate with revenue-impacting business partners to drive accuracy and completeness of transactions as well as to drive efficiencies and process improvementWork with the technology team on creating automated reports for the business to assist them in their day-to-day managementWork with the CAO on identifying automation opportunities and on various finance transformation projectsSupport the CAO with integrating acquired foreign entitiesCreate and distribute accurate internal reports to various stakeholders across the organization, as requiredProvide excellent customer service by proactively managing escalated issues and bring them to resolutionMaintain a system of effective controls, policies, and procedures over revenue recognition (for the various service lines)Manage and coach a team with a strong focus on team developmentAssist in the preparation of US GAAP financial statements and related disclosuresCollaborate with the internal audit team on establishing and maintaining controlsCoordinate with external auditors regarding the financial audit and group controls testingOther duties and ad-hoc projects as assignedEducation and ExperienceBachelor's Degree required, preferably in accountingCertified Public Accountant (CPA), required10-15 years of progressive accounting experience, with 6 or more years of supervisory experienceCombination of Big 4 experience and private industry, requiredExperience working in a public company, preferredPrior experience designing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures in a SOX environmentExperience working in large multinational businesses across multiple geographical entities, preferredExperience working in a multi-function shared services andor offshore environment, a plus Knowledge and Targeted CompetenciesAdvanced knowledge of US GAAP, with a focus on revenue accounting, requiredStrong knowledge of commercial real estate, requiredStrong communication and organizational skills as well as impeccable attention to detailAbility to multi-task and handle several deadlines simultaneouslyStrong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skillsAdvanced excel skills, requiredExperience with Oracle, RMS, Coupa and FloQast, a plusNote: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.Newmark is an Equal OpportunityAffirmative Action employer.
