Keep on reading for the details.Construction Manager, Building ElectrificationThe Construction Manager, Building Electrification is part of the Technical and Construction Services team and leads all construction activities and contractor management related to building electrification projects and initiatives in Elevate's service territories. This position is an expert technical advisor and works closely with the Director, Building Electrification to advance decarbonization projects in the Midwest, with a focus on accelerating the adoption of energy efficiency and heat pump technologies.The Construction Manager reports to the Senior Director, Technical and Construction Services. This position is located in Chicago, Illinois and is hybrid-remote with business travel within the Chicago metropolitan area as needed.ResponsibilitiesWorks closely with external contractors, Program Management, Engineering, and Project Lead team members in the delivery of electrification projects.Assist internal staff in program design and implementation related to the construction process, including guidance on RFP development, project tracking, quality control and accounting procedures.Conduct contractor relationship management, including vetting and oversight.Coordinate with internal and external teams, including Elevate's Workforce Development team and heat pump manufacturers, to increase diverse contractor participation.Support workforce development team and external contractors through technical assistance on building electrification projects, focusing on heat pump technologies.Work with contractors on intake and registration procedures and relationship building, developing project scopes, monitoring construction timelines, project oversight and closeout.Conduct scoping walkthroughs with bidding contractors and reviews bids.Create andor review construction timeline with contractors on a weekly basis.Approve invoices post-inspection and coordinate with Project Managers and Accounting team to ensure timely reimbursements and efficient internal corporate construction industry best practices to Elevate's processes and standards and maintain expertise in current energy management and new technologies.Document activity log in Salesforce CRM to ensure visibility and data accuracy.Support strategic and business planning activities.Support high performance building and other programs across the organization as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications and SkillsBachelor's degree in engineering, construction science, mechanical & electrical construction management, building science or architecture preferred; or a minimum of ten (10+) years successfully managing all phases of constructionStrong relationship management skills to build and maintain trust with external contractorsAbility to understand technical program requirements and convey technical information to contractors, such as eligibility of specific equipment and documentation required to complete installationsWell-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results in support of energy efficiency and electrification projects and the Elevate missionStrong problem-solving and negotiation skills and a drive for continuous process improvementIn-depth understanding of energy efficiency, environmental health, and electrification programs in Elevate service territoriesExtensive experience working with all contractor trades, general contracting a plusFamiliarity with Salesforce or a customer relationship management systemCapacity to manage a high volume of work and complex situationsSolid verbal and written business communication skillsAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracyWorks well independently and in support of a teamCompensationThe total compensation for this position includes health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.), defined contribution benefit (401k with contribution), professional development, generous paid time off policies, and a flexible schedule.
