MORGAN COUNTY SYSTEM OF SERVICESHANDS Home  PROGAM:   HANDS HomePOSITION:  RESIDENTIAL YOUTH SUPPORT REPORTS TO: HANDS Home Manager PAY RANGE:  $15 - $17hr. SHIFTS: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, PRN, weekends Summary: Our group home offers at-risk youth a place to live where they can get back on their feet, access treatment, have supervision and learn to modify their behavior, break patterns, and live healthier lives. Staff are responsible for the care, safety, and supervision of adolescents. The ability to care for them in a positive and loving manner while maintaining structure and discipline. The position requires the ability to receive and benefit from instruction and supervision from professional staff, keep accurate and timely records, and have good verbal and written communication skills.  Major Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to: supervise youth at all times; keep them engaged in productive tasks at all times; basic living skills; meal preparation; housekeeping; basic first aid; identification of individual training needs; assist with intakes and discharges, administer medications; basic record keeping; maintaining a disciplined, organized, and structured environment; the ability to transport clients in company vans; and any other duties as assigned.   Minimum Qualifications: The position requires a person to be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or its equivalent. Experience with youth in need of supervision andor some college course work in a human service field is a plus.  A valid driver's license along with a good driving record is required. Ability to pass a background check.  Ability to pass a drug screen.  Work schedules vary and many require some overnights and weekends.  The ability to be tolerant, patient, consistent, flexible, creative.  Knowledge Required for the Position: Experience working with troubled adolescents a plus.A reasonable combination of knowledge, abilities, and characteristics as related to the following is required: behavioral patterns and problem of adolescents, household management including meal preparation, housekeeping, basic first aid, availability of community resources, identification of individual training needs.  Physical DemandsWork Environment: Ability to supervise troubled adolescents. Household chores are a large part of the duties. Ability to walk, stand, climb up and down stairs, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Ability to keep calm in difficult situations.
