Our production department is bursting at the seams and we are looking for a person who loves to make order from chaos. Someone who enjoys creating streamlined processes and designing production lines and workstations and building a team that cranks out quality products with efficiency. This is an exciting opportunity. You won't be just coming in to take over a production facility making boring products with a glum warehouse of uninspired workers. We are a buzz of excited activity making robots in partnership with the top labs in the world working on cutting edge machine learning and AI research. The demand for our products is overwhelming and we need a brilliant production and operations mind to come in and get to build up our production department from the ground up. We are hoping to find someone who has already had experience building up departments and can show us how it is done. If that is your speed then please apply, we would love to meet you.General Overview of Production ResponsibilitiesOversee production operations, including production scheduling, inventory control, safety, staffing, reporting, procedure adherence, consistency, and quality.Provide positive leadershipdirectionsupportcoaching to the Production personnel to achieve safe, compliant, and efficient operations.Report daily, weekly, monthly status of operations to upper management.Design, develop and implement programs and procedures to optimize production and continually improve manufacturing processes.Develop and implement comprehensive operational plans, strategies, and goals to optimize production processes and achieve targets.Analyze production capacity, resources, and demand to ensure optimal utilization and efficient workflow.Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction while maintaining quality standards.Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to ensure a consistent flow of production.Develop and implement methods to improve productivity.Monitor and evaluate production metrics, including output, cycle time, scrap rates, and downtime, implementing measures to improve productivity and efficiency.Oversee procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and equipment necessary for production.Optimize inventory levels, minimize stock outs, and manage inventory accuracy through efficient tracking systems and regular audits.Implement strategies to streamline supply chain processes and reduce lead times.Monitor and evaluate production metrics, including output, cycle time, and downtime, implementing measures to improve productivity and efficiency.Ensure implementation and administration of all policies and procedures designed for the Production Department.Ensure compliance with quality standards and implement quality control processes to minimize defects and maximize customer satisfaction.Build Up the Production Department & WarehouseDesign production lines including work stations, shelving, storage, production flow, building layout, shipping, receiving, equipment and furniture purchasing.Hire and promote key personnel into positions as the team grows and needs change.Help scout new buildings and create new building layouts as the company expands.Create new processes as needed while production expands.Team Building & LeadershipLead in hiring efforts for the Production team. Manage job postings, review resumes, conduct interviews, oversee new hire training and orientation .Maintain a motivated, team-oriented production staff. Conduct regular reviews, respond to personnel issues as they arise, approve dailyweekly time sheets, mentor and promote team members.Recognize the successful efforts of employees to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve work processes.Lead, motivate, and supervise employees, ensuring they are properly trained, engaged, and aligned with company objectives.Establish clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback, coaching, and support to enhance productivity and efficiency.Foster a positive work culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.Onboard new ProductsInterface with the Engineering department to onboard new products.Create processes to ensure proper hand off of all files, samples, CAD files, procurement data, specifications, Quality control documentation, and necessary information to successfully move a product from R&D into production.SafetyChampion a strong safety culture by enforcing compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations and guidelines.Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and safety training sessions to minimize workplace hazards and prevent accidents.Stay updated on industry regulations and standards, ensuring the facility's compliance with legal and environmental requirements.Make certain that procedures and training are current and meet all requirements.Manage the staff to ensure timely production within the standards of safety, environmental, quality, cost and production policy and procedure guidelines.Trossen Robotics is an industry leader in the field of research and educational robotics.
