Job Description:

Margolis Edelstein, a premier insurance defense firm is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Berkeley Heights team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with great organizational skills, effective case management, ability to multitask, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and help wherever needed. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of an attorney. Duties may include assisting with filing various court documents, drafting templates and calendaring. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience, be familiar with e-filing in statefederal courts, calendaringdocketing, and various legal administrative duties.Responsibilities: Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparationDraft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contractsResearch regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and legal adviceCommunicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositionsManage, organize, and maintain documents in electronic filing systemsProvide general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney's calendar and making travel arrangements.Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) requiredAssociate degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor's degree a plus but not required1-5 years of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegalDetail-oriented and highly organizedExcellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanorStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and OutlookProficient in Box, SurePoint, and Filevine preferredAbility to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
