Paralegal (Intellectual Property)Job Summary: Assisting attorneys in the practice of intellectual property law, specifically domestic and international trademark prosecution and intellectual property litigation cases in federal and state courts, TTAB, PTAB, and ITC, plus UDRP complaints. Ability to maintain a detailed patent docket using a specialized software program, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adhere to strict deadlines are critical aspects of this position. Paralegal experience, litigation support experience, and patent docketing experience is required, including a working knowledge of trademarks, patents, trade secrets, and copyrights. Responsibilities: í˜ Managing the patent docket, including docketing patent deadlines, monitoring deadlines, and coordinating with firm-wide IP paralegals on related matters.í˜ Review patent documents and correspondence for relevant deadlines, status updates and other pertinent information relating to the maintenance of the docket.í˜ Prepare patent docket reports for attorneys, paralegals and clients.í˜ Filing electronically with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).í˜ Facilitating correspondence with foreign associate firms to coordinate trademark filings around the world.í˜ Assisting with registration and transfer of domain names and management of domain portfolios.í˜ Researching, investigating, analyzing, and summarizing facts and factual issues relevant to practice area.í˜ Drafting, proofreading, finalizing, and filing pleadings and other Court filings.í˜ Drafting notices to clients and foreign associates to report developments related to trademark applications and registrations.í˜ Maintaining meticulous electronic files.í˜ Assisting with all stages of discovery, including litigation holds, document collection, reviewing and summarizing documents, managing document databases and deposition transcripts, preparing privilege logs, and coordinating with vendors. í˜ Performing daily case management tasks, such as verifying case deadlines and maintaining case calendar, organizing key case materials, etc.í˜ Assisting attorneys with deposition and trial preparation.í˜ Communicating with clients, vendors, USPTO personnel, court personnel, experts, attorneys and others as directed.í˜ Accurately track and bill clients for billable time.í˜ Performing related duties as assigned. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: í˜ High School College degree í˜ Proficient in Microsoft 365.í˜ 2 years of experience in litigation support.í˜ 2 years of experience in patent docketing.í˜ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.í˜ Must be efficient, accurate, flexible, timely, organized and have excellent attention to detail.í˜ Excellent proofreading, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. í˜ Intellectual curious and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Additional Desirable Qualifications: í˜ College degree í˜ Paralegal certificateí˜ 3 years of experience as an intellectual property paralegal or legal secretary in a position involving exercising independent judgment Working Conditions: This position requires sitting for long periods of time while operating a computer. At times, employees are required to work in excess of the normal work schedule, particularly during trial preparation. Employees in this position must be mobile, have the ability to bend, and have ability to lift and carry files weighing approximately 10-15 lbs.
