Job Description:

Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and continuously improving manufacturing processes. The Manufacturing Engineer will also develop and lead the Site lean conversion plan and road map to drive significant improvement in Ohio Electric processes. The role will interact with Manufacturing and Design teams to achieve the most efficient and cost-effective production of quality products by employing lean manufacturing tools and best practices. This role reports to the Plant Manager and is based at HBD's Barnardsville, NC location.Principle Duties and Responsibilities• Responsible for manufacturing production cell design & implementation using lean manufacturing principles, single-piece flow methods and leading Kaizen events• Support daily management metrics, communication to employees, and resolution of issues related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity• Responsible to design, fabricate, and troubleshoot production and test fixtures• Employ poka-yoke error proofing production before end of line to improve defect prevention and detectability• Collaboratively determine root cause of supplier and production defects. Lead the deployment of corrective actions to verify implementation and effectiveness• Train production operators on proper assembly for new product introductions, changes or errors within the current process. Responsible to document all process and engineering changes or deviations.• Lead production job hazard analysis and process failure analysis to identify and mitigate priority safety and quality risks relative to frequency and severity• Continuously improve 5S, optimize ergonomics in workflow, safe operations in work processes and compliance with applicable regulations within the manufacturing environment• Evaluate and justify production equipment and facility investments within budget and develop business cases for capital requestsExperience and Education • B.S. Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering• At least 3 years of experience in a lean, cell-based manufacturing environment• Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills• Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, mechanical assembly, ergonomics and lean tools to execute continuous improvement projects• Advance level in MS Office Excel and PowerPoint as well as Visio and SolidWorksHBD Industries is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
